There is 147cm antenna for sale not far from me. I personally not interested in getting it, but strange design this dish has. Looks like PFA, but, I think it is offset one.

very good fiber glass quality .
Is that dish really made of plastic?! From specs I can not make this conclusion. If it is plastic and such a good antenna, I maybe contact chap who sells it and maybe visit him, just to take a look.
@skomedal thanks for providing links to specification list, seriously :) .

...and how my SMW OA-1080 was made. Would be similar to the OA-1400 no doubt.

Does that mean - plastic? Something like CM dish has?
No idea what a CM is made of, but here's what Acrilic is -

Acrylic fibers are synthetic fibers made from a polymer (polyacrylonitrile) with an average molecular weight of ~100,000, about 1900 monomer units. To be called acrylic in the U.S, the polymer must contain at least 85% acrylonitrile monomer. Typical comonomers are vinyl acetate or methyl acrylate

Don't have a degree in Physics, so make of it what you will.

Thanks @Llew . Interesting dish. It has no mesh inside but reflective coating! Would also be interesting to see dish from its back, there is no strength ribs as far I understood. And 1,4m dish weights 16 kg, means that plastic is quiet thick. I am getting interested.... vill try to look at that dish,, maybe even tomorrow.
Can you post another page of that May 1993 magazine where is continuation of the article. .

Ahem... I thought it was no more dishes??
Yes, you are right..... I still hope that dish is in very bad shape and seller will ask too much and we will not find any logical compromise. But I wish just to see this dish, and maybe slightly touch it.

What I see clearly from picture of this SMW OA-1400 "Jumbo" dish as that, even though it is offset one but feedarms and LNB are shadowing signal - strange.

Yes, 16,2kg to be precise.
And, yes, 5,5mm x on big surface makes that weight.

And one more obstacle- in my car I can fit maximum 1,2m dish  Unless I borrow bigger car :-lol
