It's a bit windy here today, no problems though, so, no downed trees, power failures, etc., quite boring really... :-sleep

Huh. Power off yet again: Auto-recloser locked out so had to wait for manual reset.

This is just a bit of wind: How will we cope with the onset of the next ice-age in a few years time?

As before, natural selection (aided with a pitchfork or two)

How to survive
The safest plan may seem bizarre: risking it back in the UK with the ice. It would be possible to store lots of canned and dried food -- perhaps enough to live off indefinitely. However, attacks from fellow survivors, vicious, feral dogs and even zoo animals would be likely.

Of course you could eat any mammal that came your way; deer and squirrel might be clinging onto survival if they could find food. You would also need to source vitamins from somewhere. In the winter months when no food is available, First Nation and Swedish peoples obtain vitamin C from boiling up pine needles to brew a drink known as "tallstrunt". Although, neither will stave off the cold as the body uses up almost half of its calorific intake just to keep itself warm at these temperatures.

What would happen if: The UK entered an ice age? | WIRED UK

We're heading into an ice age
"One day you'll wake up - or you won't wake up, rather - buried beneath nine stories of snow. It's all part of a dependable, predictable cycle, a natural cycle that returns like clockwork every 11,500 years. And since the last ice age ended almost exactly 11,500 years ago…" (Ice Age Now)

Before the ice age there will be 'The Changes' though, need to get rid of those pesky machines before they outsmart us once it gets a bit nippy.

Vividly remember, from around 1971, a ferry trip from the North French coast to Dover when a guy (who claimed to be a nephew of the actor Ceasar Romero!) and I, who had been camping on the Cote d'Azure, went down to the "restaurant" and had egg & chips (we were VERY hungry!) whilst everything on the tables was sliding from side-to-side (and even flipping over the raised edges of the tables!) and everyone else was, or nearly was, pukking everywhere! :)

We went out for a drive in North Wales today. Our destination was Porthmadog and we went despite dire forecasts. There was certainly plenty of rain around but we made it across to the A5 between Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig where we stopped for lunch. The rain lashed down outside still while we ate and then we moved onwards.

We turned off the A5 at Capel Curig heading towards Beddgelert. The rivers and streams were running high and fast and the water crashing down the hillsides were pretty impressive to see. There was lots of water running across the road and in several places there were floods in the dips. We drove slowly through them until we reached one where we were told that the next one was even deeper and there were already two cars stuck there!

At that point we decided that discretion was the better part of valour, turned round and made our way home. I had to drive for 20 minutes or so before we got to Llanberis where I finally got a signal on my phone and could phone my wife's cousin to explain we weren't going to be able to make it today.

I thought that at least I would have some good video from the dash cam but, ultra annoyingly, it didn't record the section after lunch so I have no record of the really good bits of the journey. I really must get around to fitting its replacement.
