Hi all,

I am just trying to find out info for a friend who wants to receive the ASTRA 2D FTA satelite channels in the Czech Republic, near Brno. From what I can gather from this site he will require a ~2.4m dish. Would any digital satelite receiver work, e.g an old Sky digital box from ebay?? What type of LNB would he require? Any other advice?

If anyone from the Czech Republic is successfully receiving ASTRA 2D, I would be happy to hear their story.

For Astra 2D FTA you don't need a Sky Digibox, but if you do buy one then the best is the Pace 2600 followed by the newer Pace DS430N. I am not yet aware of any FTA box with a more sensitive tuner than these ones, but I have one on the way which claims to be better (I will report my findings in another thread)

As for the LNB, if you buy a prime focus dish then you won't go far wrong with an Invacom C120 LNB with adjustable feedhorn. As for an offset dish, you will probably be best off with the MTI Blueline or Inverto 0.3 'universal' LNBs

Hi there.

Currently in the process of trying to set up a system myself in Ceske Budejovice. This gives me an advantage in being 200km West of you, however i think (hope) 2.4 is a little on the large side. Reports of 1m dishes being successful in Berlin and 1.2m in Linz give me reason to hope a 1.2m should be enough for reliable reception here, but until the weather improves, im not going up on the roof. Got a brand new Motek SD2100 last week for 1700kc (or 40 pounds), ordered an Invacom .3 Lnb today (900Kc or 22 pounds) and these i shall connect to my Strong 6130. Just waiting for spring and a dish shall be on its way...
