For the first time ever, this year's BBC coverage of the Martell Cognac Grand National will be fully interactive, with digital viewers able to access a unique split-screen view of the big race through BBCi. Aintree will also see the debut of the BBC's latest piece of technology: the BBC Forecaster - new computer database that aims to help predict the outcome of the race by analysing key historic racing data. By pressing the red button on their remote controls, digital viewers will be able to access an interactive menu where they can choose between two extra interactive streams: The first will offer Angus Loughran and Matt Chapman's guide to the racing from Aintree, including predictions from the new BBC Forecaster. For the race itself, it will also give viewers the chance to watch the Grand National from a unique split-screen perspective, with one side of the screen following the race from the ground, and the other side displaying an aerial view from one of the BBC's helicopter based cameras. The second will offer viewers a chance to see packages of the top ten Grand Nationals as chosen from the BBC Sport Website.
