Spoke to another expat today and they said theres a bbc channel for expats? bbc prime i think he said.

Can you get it on sky? or prgram it in on other channels?

the mrs would be happy if so - apparently it shows eastenders on a sunday lol

BBC prime is a subscription service, specially designed to offer progrmmes to expats. it is availble on many satellites, and sometimes is offered with other countries subscription services, but in europe it is a stand alone channel on Hotbird. it is not available on the "uk sky" group of satellites

you need to go to _www.bbcprime.com and fill out the form, pay them and you can get a card....you will need to point the dish at the correct satellite and make sure you have a receiver that will accept the card....some "patched" recievers are able to receive this without a card but who knows for how long...

Excellent picture quality with the DTH (Direct To Home) subscription.
There is a 1st time setup charge, but will not be charged if you renew next year.
The trouble is with so many repeats, you will just pay for already watched series so people tend to be satisfied with just one year.
When it is part of a provider's package, they tend to reduce the quality so as to have more channels on the leased transponder.
I think that it used to be part of Nova (Greece), but not sure if it is still offered.

Are you sure m8. I can only find it encrypted on there. On Sky Italia its NDS and Globecast Uk its Viaccess.
 
you are right ive just checked with my emu off and the globecast is scambled
with via
i was thinking its fta as the other bbc globecast channels are nagra
and it always stays on when they go
 
BBC Prime has been consistently hacked for as long as i can remember, i would not pay for this channel, i can even remember watching this with d2mac cards, not much there though - unless you like repeats:)
 
there may be some truth in the continual hacking of BBC Prime- back in 2005 when i got my dreambox 5620s the 1st channel I could get on hotbird was BBC Prime- it has pretty much stayed with me ever since- i never remember it being scrambled. even now when i lavishly indulge in cardsharing having tried forever since 2005 BBC Prime remains available on Hotbird
