Very much doubt I'll watch any Olympics at all this time around.

Thank heavens for endless repeats of quality non-sports content across the arc.

I found the earlier CBeebies, which changes to BBC4 in the evening) has moved in the past 24 hours, presumably to make way for daytime traffic from Rio.

There was a newsfeed on a western satellite over the weekend showing a shot of the yachting lake in standard definition. Full of foam and floaters. In HD the skidmarks could identify the indidual craft as they compete.

I feel sorry for anyone windsurfing at Rio (or is it to be kitesurfing ? Windsurfing restored to Brazil 2016 Olympics ). Take those kapok tablets.

Funny you should mention that .... I have just picked up the Sports pages of today's Telegraph and there is a large front page photo of a wrapped human body floating in those same waters.

When did triathlon include log jumping?

EDIT, which may be removed by those with higher powers!
Not too much negativity in the press or TV news on any channel so far, hope it all goes OK

It's not a streaming site, it's a stream on a satellite. This is definitely not receivable in Australia nor in Houston.

Look at the bitrate on the hd's! Will it be kept for the actual transmissions ?

Here in Spain, the sd variants on 12421 H are between 5 and 6 dB lower than their HD counterparts

^^^ 2f's lower here too, 3 to 4 db. But 12421 H 2\3 fec somehow manages to get a picture out of ridiculously low db's (3,7 db is ok)

Depending on TOD variance SD versions between 5 and 6 dB, as you state, no problem. My stb drops them at about 4.5 dB. HD ones are 11 dB or more at the moment

Yes very good 15-22 Mbit/s during the fotball game according to kodi. But why not use 1080p instead of 1080i

Unfortunately, it would appear you are correct.
Last few days of riots, marches etc, will not be a good start to the games, in some ways I can understand why, but when the world needs to come together to overcome some of the other " issues ", shame
