BBC signal strength changes Astra 2D - 1N

Thought as we know there is a change happening overnight Id see if there are any differences to be noted in the signal strengths between 2D & 1N.

So selecting one channel from each BBC tp and using the signal meters on my 7020:

Completely unscientific but it'll be interesting to see if there are any changes. Feel free to join in from your location - just make sure you choose the same channels tomorrow! :)
 
I'll post my results tomorrow on those four transponders from Buckinghamshire. Not sure if time of day and cloud cover should be taking into consideration. Perhaps time of day isn't such an issue when you're in the middle of the footprint?
 
Makes sod all difference here - signal strengths only go down in heavy rain. Im a bit surprised at the BER not being zero on 3 of the frequencies. Dont know if the lnb has moved very slightly (its an offset on the 1m 16E dish) but Im not touching it until the weekend.

I thought so after I typed that. Just so used to watching the signal fluctuate in Finland, even on 2A/2B south signals.

I've only got a Technomate with quality percentage readings but it should be interesting to compare anyway.
 
Yes - might be a slightly misaligned lnb as its only loosely lashed onto the end of the offset arm on the 1m dish. It does move a bit occasionally & its been pretty windy up here this winter. However its going to stay untouched until the weekend now Ive taken some readings.

As I said in an earlier post its all very unscientific as there no allowance being taken for weather changes, but its more to see if theres any noticeable change overnight.

Weather when I cam home from work was light drizzle.
 
Hi AS. I only get the horizontals here (so expecting an infinate improvement on V channels! BBC HD here I come!)

Analoguesat I have BER 0 in Spain on the tps you had BER on,i guess the channels have moved to Astra 1N :D

They surely did move. ALL the BBC Channels are are now receivable down here in Malta with a 1.5 m Dish. With a 1.2 m Dish only some Freqs are receivable, for instance, the 10788 V and the BBC HD on 18847 V (DVB -S2). The BER is '0' on all Freqs.

Here's my quality readings from a TM6900 from last night on 2D (clear skies) and this morning on 1N (overcast) in Buckinghamshire:

All recievable in Naples on my 1.25m dish. SNR of 11dB on the Horizontals, 9 on the Verticals. All error free
 
I'm confused. Did the frequencies stay the same but just move satellite?

Yes. 2D is now empty.
 
Ah, right. I thought it was a frequency change but checked the box this morning and all was well.

Todays weather - sunny & blue skies.

Definitely slightly stronger though - the Astra 2's have traditionally been in the hight 80's on my 7020 meters.

Signals much better than this morning. Sill got my BBC HD now, but no time to watch it!

I would really like to hear from others in Malta about how they are receiving the BBC channels following the switch. I have a 1.5 dish and Sky HD box. I have been getting good reception on 143/169 during the day but loose them in the evening/night. I also pick up BBC 2 on 991 and ITV on 103 but again loose them in the evening. 101/2 I hardly pick up at all. Also the weather has been good so reception might be worse when clouds and rain return.

I would particularly like to hear from ZORBUA or others with 1.5m dishes.
 
Try some of the other BBC's up in the 900s - you might find one frequency is marginally better than the rest & holds up longer
