I am certain whether this is the right section for this, but there is interesting info from the BBC
_http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2011/08/red_button_dsat_astra.html

The BBC are about to close TP 12.441 (I thought they would just shift it onto 1N...nope) and reduce their "red button" interactive service.
They also reshuffle TP 11.954 and put BBC News, Parliament and Alba onto their 2D transponders. So everybody who could get these channels via the wider beams now has to rely on 2D for them too.
Some of the red button streams will move to 11.954 - which should stay the same as they say the tuning details wont change.

not good news for SD bitrates I guess.

This is not good news for many ................. the iStreams are a godsend for F1 freaks etc. (Not that it wasn't going to be cut anyway, c/o Bernie).

Pietclock - Ive copied your post into the fringe section as well - this is terrible news for the expats who cant get 2D.

Ah well they will have to move back to the UK & suffer our miserable weather :D

we don't know yet what 1N will bring. The tests didn't really reveal a lot didn't they, except this bird can produce pretty strong signals.

2D is approaching its end of life. I am quite certain, that SES will want to move some transponders from 2D to 1N to reduce the load of 2D. 1N has lots of transponders, it could replace 2D completely and add Band C.

Your guess is as good as ours. ITV have signed up for 3 new tp's (which have to be in the 2C band) so I would imagine they will be on the spotbeam

I don't know how you know that, but assuming it is true it suggests they may be ending their encryption deal for the HD channels (ITVs 2, 3 & 4 HD). They only need two new TPs to move the FTV versions of ITV1 onto a spot beam.

No - ITV have booked them for additional services - whatever that means.

I think its extremely unlikely that ITV 2 / 3 / 4 HD will go fta anytime soon as ITV are trying to diversify their income streams to reduce their reliance on advertising.

Great that is really good news. Maybe they are going to launch all the HD versions of their channels in "+1" too. BTW - what was your source?

For expats no doubt.

Of course the ITV channels could easily stay encrypted BUT move over to the 1N spotbeam :-rofl2

BBC teletext page 998 confirms the following. BBC News, BBC Alba and BBC Parliament are moving on 22/9. Red button services are moving on 28/9.

The info actually refers to possible problems "after" these dates.

Sad news...
BBC News UK is much better that that, which is available on every satellite... with ads and news only about Iraq or Afghanistan or Lybia.
