Just reading the Daily Telegraph and on the front page of the Business Section is a piece reporting the Minister for Culture as saying the Government wants to stop BSkyB from charging Public Service Broadcasters around £7m annually for Carriage.

If that's the case I guess they'll just have to make up the difference from subscribers...

It goes further and suggests BSkyB should pay for the privilege of carrying them!

Freesat too.

The BBC has also said it is considering withdrawing some regional variations from satellite.

Cant say Im surprised at that bit. Its a terrible waste of bandwidth.

Here here! Leave lots more channels for selling things we didn't know we didn't need

Bring back the analogue days. Far better channels (think FilmNet+) with less crap littering the skies. And no useless +1 variations!

Freesat too.
Well I think that would be a significant threat to the future of Freesat.

Yes, although of course the main partners in Freesat are the PSBs anyway, so if they have to rob peter to pay paul (For accounting reasons), any additional money would have to come from the non-PSB Channels on their EPG - no chance whatsoever of any direct payment by viewers.
