Can anyone recommend some good coax cable for fringe reception ?

I bought some at the local market (always and mistake !) and its cr@#p .....

Its locally made and obviously poor quality. I have tested different sat receivers, switched LNB's and re-run fresh cable twice. I can only assume its the poor quality of the cable itself.

I'm getting 20% less signal in the living room with the new cable as I am in the downstairs bedroom (using an old cable). Also Some of the channels like Bloomberg and TPS as just breaking up despite 40% & 70% signal strength.

Grateful for some suggested decent suppliers ....

What's the length of run?

Not sure of what cable is available there, if you can buy Webro cable, then look for one of the bigger core diameter cables, standard is 1mm, next size up is 1.25mm, then 1.65mm, then 2.25, the 2.25 is very low loss, but quite unwieldy, it depends on your cable length as to whether it is worthwhile using it.

Cheers Rolfw, its about 20m cable run.

The back bedroom is longer (about 30m).

If I can't but it locally. I will get it posted out, or ask someone to bring it with them.

Cheers ....

There is a huge copper content in CT100, hence the price, but it really doesn't perform much if any better than WF100. Given the opportunity, I would use WF125 on any 20m or 30m cable runs, in fringe reception areas, as a reduced loss of a couple of DBs could well be critical.

Cheers guys i'll have a look around.

The stuff they used was locally made RG6 .....

The cable in the backroom doesn't have any print on it. Although its certainly thicker, less flexible and beter quality than the RG6.

I actually get free postage from a forwarding address in the UK, so I'll probably buy online or speak to some of the local dealers in Rawalpindi (who are normally good for sourcing pretty much anything)

i always buy the Hirschmann Koka 2000 cable, its the only one, that i can get here in local store, with good quality, coz hirschmann very popular here, like amstrad, and pace,in uk:)

"normal" cables are very cheap, a bought 200 Meter of Bigsat Cable,in Germany, for only 30€
for "normal use"also this cable works:)
