The plate is in. Which way would it require skewing? or would I be better replacing the LNB holder with this type?
Use that holder and swap to your PF dish as mentioned.

... just sharing some snow /wind damage experience on my Precision 2.2mtr PF using a "Jumbo" heavy duty motor & still in mourning over this :-(
It survived last years snow and gales, but not this years .... some before and after pics.
These are not specifically snow damage related pics, this damage was done by the extremely high gale force winds we had this time last year even though the dish was lowered into the horizontal position and roped down. It still managed to get trashed along with the motor unit. A very very frightening experience at the time and was fully expecting it all to end up through the extensions window. So take extra care chaps when heavy snow or winds are forecast so as to avoid a heartache.
Plans to staighten up the mount & obtain a C/M 1.8 to replace hopefully this summer all being well.
... Great minds think alike nelson lol ... i'm in the final stages of a re-build after recent violent gales trashed my beloved 2.2mtr Precision. Iv'e got a prototype lnb platform under construction on my 1.8 Channel Master that's giving me loads of space for the forthcoming extra lnb farm. @ pipedream, i found that getting the conical scalar in exactly the right position on the feed for best S/N was fairly critical for best performance. Forget going for absolute max signal strength as the prime objective, concentrate on your S/N .
Not a nice event......I and all others here can imagine your feelings when you saw the resulting weather damage.......that hurts!... You don't want to know Martin, it'll make you weep lol. Also trashed a heavy duty "Jumbo" positioner. The gales that day were absolutely mental and to be honest i shi.. / poo'd me pants. I only live a knats away from you near Mansfield so i bet you can remember it, something like a year ago ?. The dish was facing the way you can see it in my profile pic but was lowered down on like a see-saw mount arrangement and the Cband lnb was touching the ground. It was even roped down from the dish arms back to the bottom of the ground mount for extra security i thought -- WRONG. The gusts were that strong that it snapped the rope & lifted the whole lot back up to vertical at high speed where it came to a violent abrupt stop in the vertical position. The impact was enough to shatter the internals of the Jumbo positioner, bend the top pole section and warp / knacker the 2.2 Precision. A BAD day Martin, still getting withdrawal symptoms lol dear me.![]()
I would love a 2.2 Precision dish Surely can't be offset 6º. Or do you mean receiving from 6º, i.e. 3º offset?C band l.n.b offset about 6 degrees
I will use the combo LNB to find all the sats again then change it to the C band LNB@Pipedream If results of PFA will not satisfy you, will you trow the dish away?Just say where!
Nice dish. Combo LNB, for sure is not best option to do comparison tests. Maybe in C-band it will work OK, but Ku will lose, that is for sure.
I've always wondered about the design of the CM180 PM mount. So let me get this straight...Decided to swap the dishes and put the PF up. Will have a play tonight see if it is any better
Beautiful dishDecided to swap the dishes and put the PF up. Will have a play tonight see if it is any better
That is exactly what I did the back half of the PF mount goes on to a 3.5" pole, so to safe changing the pole I just put it on to the offset mount. There is a small difference but nothing a few washer does not fixI've always wondered about the design of the CM180 PM mount. So let me get this straight...
You can take your Offset CM180, with the support ring attached, off the polar mount.
Then the PF CM180 with another ring almost just slides on, you reconnect top and bottom bolts, and the actuator, and you're done.
...is that how it is?
'coz that would explain a lot about the offset CM180 polar mount design...![]()
can you post a few closer pics from PM and support ringDecided to swap the dishes and put the PF up. Will have a play tonight see if it is any better
