best dish for general multifeed

Gentlemen,
which Is best dish to use for a general wide space 20 - 30 deg multi feed setup
1) Triax TD110 - 100 x 105
2) Skyware 84E eliptical dish - 84 x 99 - no multifeed support needs diy
3) Gilbertiny 1.2 m
4) else - you name It but without ugly T90 etc
 
Please list what satellites you have in mind, and more exact location than EU!

Shame because that's probably the 'best dish for multifeed'....However, I have 53E to 39E on a 1M Gibertini, 5E to 19E on a Penta 85 and 1W to 12.5W on a TD88. The latter two could probably handle another two LNBs each, possibly to a 20 degree spread...
 
I had six lnbs on a TD88 - 4.8e to 28.2e
 
I actually hate the look of the T90 as well... But sadly quite practical. I would much prefer a multi feed Visiosat Bisat dish. Not as wide a range as the T90 (about 40 vs 60?ish degrees) but much prettier and made out of fibreglass, so much sturdier.
 
The Big Bisat is a good dish, set one up recently and it performs very well, this one was set for Turksat, Astra 28.2 and Hotbird.

Depends entirely on many factors. Best what?
Best overall performance in the centre?
Consistent performance across the span?
Widest range/span?
Easiest to put up without breaking your back?
Best performer that is allowed under normal planning schemes?
Best longevity - resistance to the elements?


I would say there are three categories of choices:
1) Slap multiple LNBs on a 120 cm dish - e.g. a CM120 or similar. Centre LNB will be really good, and fringes somewhat less so. If you get an SMC one (Visiosat, Channel Master, Prodelin, Laminas), they will last forever. Of those, the Visiosat is probably the easiest one, it can be ordered with a multi-LNB bracket.
2) Get a purpose-built current multi-focus dish. If you don't like the T90, the Cahors/Visiosat Big Bisat is probably the best choice.
3) Get your hands on a SMW OA-1600, they're a 1.0 m dish across the range (25 degrees). Not made for some time - but very good durability. Will last for quite some time, if you keep the rust in the mount at bay.

That's because it's not a dish designed to be used in multi-feed mode. There are brackets to allow this but that's not its originally intention and not one I would pick for multi-feed use.

Sad you rule out the T90 at the start because it's ugly. I suppose it's the dish/reflector setup that displeases the eye but it's that that makes it effective. I've had one for more than ten years. It's in the garden behind the roses & other shrubs (weeds !) and I can get to it easily if I need to adjust anything - no clambering up ladders and over roof tiles. I have 8 lnbs pointing at 28.2E,23.5E,19.2E,16.0E,13E,9E,4.9E & 5W and feeding two Emp-Centauri diseqc switches into a Vu+Duo, and I couldn't be happier with it. The only limitation is that it is effectively only a 90cm-1m dish and any beam that needs more than that is not viewable. Its qualities though outweigh any disadvantages it may have.

I've got 26E - 7W (= 33º). In my opinion trying to get more than 40º out of the T90 is a waste of time. You'd just end up with missing transponders from the satellites outside the bar. Brilliant dish though but build quality could be a bit more heavy duty.

Interesting. Would you say, in reality, the Bisat dish is overall better?

In theory a T90 is better because the signal is 100% in focus at every LNB. Bisat is paraboloid top to bottom and spherical from left to right so must suffer spherical aberration to some degree. How it works in practice I don't know, but looks a lot more heavy duty than the T90.
