I will be purchasing a new receiver as well as new Laminas Dish in the next month or so.
Would TM-5402MK3 be the best buy, or does it suffer fake 45000 channels like the
Technomate I had about 10 or 12 years ago, or is it too old now.
Tuner sensitivity is important as I am a feed junky so blind scan is important also,
how would this receiver compare to my Clarke-Tech 5100C.
Octogan 4008 is an option also, (but no blind scan) as it is supposed to be very sensitive
and I will have to learn how to use a Linux receiver.
Suggestions/Advice on other receivers welcome.

Thanks as always folks

I use a dr hd d15 it's very similar (same chipset) as the tm5402.

Yes they do still suffer with the 45000 symbol rate.

A lot of people with enigma2 boxes use a tbs sat card, and crazy scan to import the xml file into the box, for blind scanning.

If it was me I would go the pc sat card. I have a tbs 6983 card multi stream and apsk compatibile.

The TM-5402MK3 /TM5402HD M3 does not suffer from 45,000 symbol rate error however it does have some other serious issues that have not been addressed despite myself & others telling TM
The older versions TM5402HD M1 & M2 do suffer with the 45,000 symbol rate error as do the other clones of this build the Blade 7000 & some early versions of Dr HD,

1/Adds nonexistent frequencies & beams that it is impossible to receive with a 100cm dish,
2/The Blind Scan misses some active low symbol rate frequencies,
3/The picture quality is not very good in SD on a 40 inch TV,

A better bet in my opinion is the TM5302HD & TM6902HD these receiver have a very accurate blind scan also a far superior picture in SD & HD with no data base errors you may be able to pick up a 2nd hand version of these receivers.

octagon 4008 has the most sensitive tuner I've ever tested.
enigma 2 is pretty simple to understand.

I wouldn't recommend the 5925 it gets red hot misses transponders and is far from sensitive, I have a £17 box that's far better on sensitivity and doesn't miss the transponder the 5925 misses.

What is the point of making a UHD receiver like the OCTAGON SF4008 4K UHD without a Blind Scan,

When you will never be able to find the any of the UHD feeds that makes up the majority of the transmissions as you will never know where they are :(:-doh

I got flak for saying it before, but I depend on people like you and Stanley Cassidy to do the blind scanning and I can then watch the feeds they find. This is because I do not have all day and night to continually scan 20 or 30 satellites looking for new feeds. I also depend on others to be able to watch some feeds which are encoded in BISS. A blind scan receiver would still be useless to me if I was the only one to find these feeds.

The absence of blind scan would be far from a deal breaker for me if the Octagon is as good as is being reported.

.
The last joke of the octagon SF4008 4K.
You can put 2 cards with satellite tuner or DTT2 double, in total you will have 4 tuner, but only drive 3, confirmed by the companions who have it, it's not a joke.
In slot A, see the 2 tuner, in slot B, only 1 tuner.

In the case of dual satellite tuner, in the configuration appears the option of connected to another tuner, for example Tuner B connected (loop) to Tuner A, you need a splitter to signal the Tuner B.

To fish, including the 4K (UHD) channels I use the VU+DUO2 (it's normal HD), with practice and when I see the BitRate of the channel I know that it is a 4K channel (UHD), I can record the contents and watch on the PC The recording, I can also send the channel list with the new channel to the VU+Ultimo4K to watch.

To everybody above, a great big thank you for all your advice and info.
The ideal solution would be to have the following.
Octogan 4008 and a TBS PC Card
The problem is always "ideal and like to have" never seems to meet

Hi Rascals, if you like feed hunting I wouldn't go for the Octogan, as mentioned above no blind scan it was promised but never materialised, there's a few con men in the industry promise the earth and never deliver :(.

As for the V8 I've never used it, go for the v7 its a good box:)

I had a call out to one of those this morning. My initial thought was that it was just a cheap box, but after about 30 minutes I was hating it with a passion. The client was more angry than me after I showed him that the outdoor equipment was working perfectly well with his seven year old Venture HD box that he had replaced since he thought it was obsolete.

Attached to a Dark Motor, this V7 thing wouldn't drive to the correct position, either in GOTOX mode or DiSEqC 1.2. When it is on a satellite it takes forever to tune into the channels.

Firmware is currently V3.02.102.510 (dated March 2017) no satellite position I could find would allow it to upgrade to a functioning , friendly receiver.

This is the version with single USB btw, not a clone.
