A good CPU and graphics card are needed to get the best out of TBS receivers. I have the USB TBS5925 version. My graphics card is a GTX1070 which enables displaying of the new 4:2:2 feeds. Examples of these are Question Time feeds for the BBC and sports feeds for TG4 and RTE in Ireland. Also the receiver has to be supplied with third party software, like DVB Dream which I use. So a fair bit of extra expenditure might be needed for someone getting a TBS. Another consideration is how suitable the computer screen is for viewing TV. It is probably possible to feed the TV signal back from the computer to a TV screen, but that is something I have not looked into. My setup is a Dr HD Grand Triple receiver which I use to tune in signals and for some feedhunting. This is looped through to an AzBox which has Enigma 2 and that is then looped through to the TBS which is connected to the PC. A non Linux receiver like the Dr HD suits me best for tuning in signals and general viewing and especially for driving the dish. The loop through then allows the full benefits of E2 and the TBS to be enjoyed. 16PSK and the like show no signals on the Dr HD but they appear on the TBS. I never had a “proper” E2 receiver since the Az did not start out life as such. I want to replace it with something like the Octagon, but even if that does Multistream and S2X, other new things will keep appearing and there can be no perfect setup.
