Hello..I want buy new dish and want ask which make is best now.. I will be using astra 23.5 and UPC direct 1 west.
I want buy best quality and not too heavy.Also which size will be enough here in UK NORFOLK.I have triax TD 115cm big ..but arm is broken now and is too heavy. Receiver VU UNO 4K SE .. thx
 
If you want a reasonable quality dish that is not too heavy you could consider a Gibertini 1.25m dish or a Gibertini 1.5m dish. The relector is made of aluminium and Gibertini are a popular choice.

Ok..dont want too big..will 90 cm will be enought?
 
The UPC transmissions can be received on a good 90cm dish, but best to go to the maximum limits of planning permission to cover really bad weather.
 
ok..will aluminium dish will be better like mesh? or which is best type dish in 2019?
 
Unless you are in a really windy location (inward sea conditions) stay away from a mesh dish.

for the same locations, stick with aluminium if you can, but make sure it is not damaged when it arrives, ask for the signals from the installer once installed.

Better still give up with the triax and fit a gib or techno mate :-wow

If you really must fit a triax keep the duct tape handy as your hands will need it.

Just my opinion, why do triax insist on the pole mounting bracket at the bottom of the dish:confused as a good gust of wind and the triax will wobble about on and off signal.

Just my opinion.

Good point - although I don't have much trouble with the dishes here wobbling as both the TD88 & TD110 are on ground-mounted poles "stabilished" to the adjacent (neighbour's - but they don't know that!:) ) high fence and thus are well protected from any real wind effects

OTOH, the LNB arms can (like many dishes) can still wobble even then - but I fit a couple of "springy" steel strips (from B&Q - used for connecting roof trusses and the like) from just in front of the LNB holder (with a car exhaust clamp) to the edges of the dish and that solves that issue as the arm is then "rock solid" w.r.t. the dish

Will the dish be used for multisat (i.e. more than one LNb or motorised?

I suspect that @Chris1979 finds the edges of heavy dishes (and the TRIAX ones are heavy) very uncomfortable without them, as do I, but I manage without them because I usually need to hold a small spanner to tighten/loosen the bolts during the adjustment process and gloves make that a lot more difficult.

The edge of the dish/mounting assembly can and will given half a chance slice into the palms of your hands or leg.
 
8 foot fence now fitted behind my pole ground mounted dishes to protect them from the wind :)
