I'm sure I've read somewhere that this won't work but I'm getting hold of an Inverto Black Ultra and was going to try it out on my dish. Will it work or not?

Two snags:

1. Feedhorn shape will not be optimal for a squashy dish like a Zone 2

2. It's a 40mm collar mount device, so you'd need to do a bit of inventive re-engineering to mount it on a Sky LNB Arm

I thought Sky LNBs were 40mm

Yes, but they have knobbly bits on the collar that match the plastic bits and pieces that help them fit to the LNB arm.

So you can easily mod. a Sky LNB to physically fit a proper dish (though the Feedhorn shape won't match the dish shape)

You are wanting to do it the other way around and fit a true collar mount device to a peg and pin arm.

Ah right. I'll be in the garage for a few hours then!

Yeah, you were right. I'm getting a big boost in signal and can even pick up the Nordic beam on 0.8W but I don't think taping it to the dish with duct tape will last very long. With a bit of tweaking and getting it mounted properly could see me getting that Nordic beam very well.

Sounds promising.

Does anyone sell a normal LNB bracket for the MK4's?

I doubt it, because yer average punter doesn't really want (or care about) a mismatch between dish shape and feedhorn shape.

You're a pioneer, you!

If it works, it works ;)

Bit of an update. Managed to get 50% quality on the Astra 4A Nordic Bream (Viasat Xtra transponder) and was happy bur decided to go up again and see if I could squeeze some more out of it. After a bit of messing about I've managed to snap the LNB holder and am having to hold the LNB on with shoelace so will have to do with the stronger satellites until the new one comes on Saturday but still very promising!

Shoelaces, eh?

Beat Zip Ties any day!

i tested the black ultra now on the gregory 1.25,the signal result on nilesat H was exatly the same then with the white tech, the bad news, only after 2 weeks of installing black ultra gone, looks like its true, what i read on board, that the black color of this lnb heat up the electronic inside,on some other place on the net i read that the twin version of black ultra performs better then the single version, can someone confirm this?
looks like the white tech has the longer life time..!

Not for the MK4 dishes. I saw them weeks ago and was gutted! :(

Exactly: Black is a heat sink. White is a reflector (Sort of). Dark clothes in winter, light in summer. (Thanks, Gran)
