For the past couple of days my Panasonic DB30 has remained stuck on BBC Radio2 with the information dispaly saying it's 3.02am July 15th, I can hear the radio but can't change channel. After turning it on and off a couple of times and waiting a while the channels came back but the system is blocked again since last night.

Can anyone help me? Has my receiver died/dying? I am about 100km south of Rome (Italy) and can only see Ch4/5 and hear some radio stations.

Thanks in advance

Your lucky that it has lasted this long problem free!.This model was left with a serious bug in the software the last time it was updated with Panasonic software(about 2 years ago).It usually affects boxes that are out of range of some transponders. At that time Panasonic stopped making Sky digiboxes, and neither Sky or them ever put the fault right.I think the Satcure website may be able to help-if its something else.

I have a freeview card on the same receiver and being in a fringe area can you tell me if I can buy a new receiver and put the freeview card in it without getting it activated (what I mean is does it work in any receiver?)

Thanks again!

:-doh! I don't have a Freeview card but a Freesat card. Can I use it in any receiver without having to activate it and can anyone recommend a good receiver for a fringe area?

Thanks

Go for the Pace 2600,or the latest thompson box. Your card will allow you to open ch4,ch5 and Sky3.they will work in any box though if you have the signal.

I used to think it was a bug problem. But your post made me think of some other 'fatal' issue.

My 1st Panny failed at the time you speak of. I got a friend (who had updated to SKY+) to send me his old panny 30 that had been under the stairs for over a year.

When I received it, I did a forced download. It worked for about a year and a half without fault. Now that one is also duff (mid july).

So, if the software was at fault, my second one should have gone titsup the moment I forced a download.

The only thing that is common, is that they both lasted about the same time in full use: about two-plus years.

Two Pannys in five years - supposedly the best there was - Panasonic can rot in hell. Sorry, getting carried away there.'O'-red

Certainly follow benidormgary's advise and fork out for a new (or, as in my case secondhand ebay Pace 2600 or 430N). GBP 46.00 - 76.00 ish.
