As ususal the Brits have taken the piss out of a Governmental institution.

When asked to suggest names for the new polar research vessel someone suggested Boaty Mc Boatface

Of course with the British sense of humour this is now running away with the votes - 65500+ when I posted this. :D

The website gives an impression of the name :-lmao

Of course the ship wont end up being called BMcB even if it gets all the rest of the votes - some committee will deem some safe name acceptable - I suspect RSS David Attenborough stands a good chance

Shame, because I really liked the suggestion of Usain Boat....but I'd vote for Boaty McBoatface if the Queen is going to do the naming ceremony...

Given my naming mischief, I'd go for Titan Uranus.

I've just discovered that I've voted for Boaty McBoatface without realising it! Not unhappy about it though...

They say despite the majority of the voting public who want that name, it's a group of about four people at the top who will decide. So what was the blinkin' point of the mass vote if it means nothing??? You couldn't make it up. :D

Maybe the group winnow out all the facetious and funny names just leaving the "proper" ones. David Attenborough looks like a good bet to me.
