Hello,

I am looking for an installer in Brighton. I need a motorised dish, as big as possible - I am thinking of 100cm dish or 85cm Penta to avoid problems, although if it were possible something bigger, the bigger the better!-.

Admins, could you please allow me to send private messages?

Thanks.

PM's will be activated when someone replies to your thread offering to help. :)

Theres normally one of the reds around to do it.

Are you looking for something similar to what you have in your profile ?

what type of property ?

Is it yours, or rented ?

Is there a clear line of site to the satellites you want ?

What particular channels are you in need of ?

Thanks for your answer!

Yes. Although I have that dish in Spain, not in London. I have actualized the profile. Now I am moving to Brighton-Hove and I want something similar. Although I think I do not mind if the dish is a bit smaller. It is something to talk with the installer and the householder.

It will be rented. Actually, it is still not rented. I want to find an installer before renting it because I want to have the householder ok before signing the contract. So I want the installer to check if installation in the property I am interested in is possible and how the installation could be done. Then I rent the flat or house if the householder agrees with the installer plans, and then the installer puts the dish.

I have done that previously in Spain and I feel householders are more receptive before signing the contract than after it.

(I know it will be more expensive than usual because the installer has to charge two (or more) visits. No problem)

An installer who knows Brighton-Hove help would be appreciated, since I know there are some policies about installing dishes and he could give me some advice about what kind of property is better, if some area is better than other and all these details.

I know how this stuff works in Spain, but I suppose things can be different in England.

A bit of everything, although my main interest is sport.

They are, and so is the legislation regarding installations, all of which is freely available onine from the usual sources. The only no-go area I know of is the marina, the rest is down to UK dish size and permission of the landlord.

No need to travel down before installing, just get a letter in writing.

The problem is that although I have had dishes in the past, I am not an expert in installation stuff, so I could think that in some property it is possible to do an intallation but later on it is not so easy. Since I do not want to deal with this kind of problems, this is why I think that the first visit could be worthwhile (just to check if it is technically possible). Any standard letter for this?

Do you mean this?:

Is there anything else I should take into account?

By the way, are you a professional installer (I hope Brighton not far away from you!), or just helping? Thanks a lot!

Not only that, but the local council website has really all you need.

I am an hours drive from you (that's Brighton, not Spain).

It is not so bad! Are you interested in this installation? (I cannot send pm's)

Some of the squares off the seafront west of the pier won't allow dishes on the fronts, I know of one property that received a letter from the council demanding there dish was removed and any damage made good. The ones I can picture only have a firewall and stack on a pitched roof so not sure you'd want to put a 1m motorised up there, especially with it being so open to the sea. Conversely you could probably get away with a 1.8m dish in parts of Whitehawk or Moulsecoomb but you'd not want to advertise anything like that to the local knuckle draggers.

Do you have any idea of what part of Brighton you're going to move too as it's quite a large place, I'm in town every few days so could take a look if I'm over there.

Done a few in Brighton , couple in the centre on Western road , the flats were north facing so put the dish at the back , no problem .

You have the right idea to have someone there first as it can vary from place to place of what you can achieve .

Thanks for the advices.

After reading again the regulations I think it is better to keep the dish under 1 meter. Everything seems much easier.

Any email or phone number to contact you to go into the details?

If mariust5 was offering to do the job then I would activate your PMs, from his post that does not appear to be the case, but please do not invite phone numbers or email addresses to be posted on the site for members' own protection.

Please explain why you are in Spain but the 'job' is in Brighton

Well , the OP wanted some advice on installs in Brighton and a site survey which was offered before by aceb .

PM's activated for roccky then

Roccky, just a thought

Why not go surfing on Googlemaps/Streetview on any prospective house/apartment. If you have a postcode then searching for satellite angles, potential obstacles, and front aspect issues from the road is a doddle from your armchair.

You can also angle the camera view for roofline observation just in case a flatroof or balcony becomes your only option.

Thanks guys, I have been quite busy lately.

Topper, I am moving to Brighton (and this is why I am so busy).
