British Channels receivable in N. Italy

North East Italy
A couple of friends who have lived a number of years in the UK would like to install a sat receiver in their home (Northern Italy) in order to receive (if possible) BBC, ITV, etc British TV channels (BBC World is already relayed).

Could you please indicate which channels are available and if they are free or cripted (if so, are subscription cards available overseas) ?

Where exactly are they in Northern Italy gabate?

The signal from Astra 2D (where the BBC and ITV channels are) can vary considerably once you get to the edge of the footprint.

OK, looked that up, so it's the Venice region?

There are no specific reports that I can find for reception there, but would guess that your friends would require a high quality 1.5m dish as a minimum for the Free to air BBC and ITV channels, possibly a 1.8m.
