Can someone tell me if you buy direct from a supplier in the EU, are you liable for VAT in that country? I checked up on the HMRC site and as far as I can see you don't have to pay it here, but it is not very clear. Anyone with experience on this?

AFAIK if you are in a EU country ordering from another EU country you pay the other EU country's VAT and that is that (apart from postage costs of course). Certainly was for me one the one and only time I bought something that way.

It's part and parcel of the derestricted borders for trade.

Thanks for that, PaulR - what a pity if there VAT rate is 21%.

For EU countries, the highest rate of VAT is Denmark at 25%. Most other rates are between 21 - 19%. Lowest is Luxembourg at 15%. Don't know if you will find a sat shop there, if you do, let me know!
