Canal Plus' chief executive Francois Carayol has confirmed rumours of new official smartcards from providers using Seca encryption. Carayol said unauthorised use of smart cards is most rampant in Italy and added that Canal Plus plans to begin replacing its cards, beginning with Spain next month. "Spain,

NDS who Canal Plus are suing have blamed Canal Plus Technologies "inferior" technology for the widespread piracy of its digital pay-TV broadcasts.
