Canal Plus' chief executive Francois Carayol has confirmed rumours of new official smartcards from providers using Seca encryption. NDS who Canal Plus are suing have blamed Canal Plus Technologies "inferior" technology for the widespread piracy of its digital pay-TV broadcasts. Canal Plus alleges that NDS engaged in a conspiracy to harm its competitive position in the digital television market, and placed on the internet the means to do so.
