Both ordered....on the way...job done...thanks :-applause

Will still try the others suggested.......def got the 'C-Band bug'

Good job lovelyperson the ESX421 is just great. I also have the Titanium Satellite C1PLL as well but I think the ESX stands on its own. I sometimes use the C-Band LNB on a 1.2 and sometimes I take it up on the 1.5. Dish. and as CJ puts it with the 1.5 you get more channels.

........
delivery times vary but my most recent ESX took about a week and a half ........
The buzz I got from receiving my first C band channels took me right back to my childhood and the thrill of DXing foreign channels from great distances on Short Wave radio..
Good luck you LovelyPerson ..and welcome to the club..

Thanks, yes, weird us 'humans' but like yourself and no doubt many here the old 'tingle factor' still kicks in.

OT but winding the clock back over some 10 years when the Dreambox was somewhat new and nearly everthing was trial and error and I finally managed to 'open' the Sky Italy package......was a saturday afternoon dream, I of course did not watch the 25 or so xxx channels that also 'opened'....honest!!

Sure the first C-Band scan will be the same.....great.

Cheers all, enjoy your weekend. :D

Anyway, things are on the move as:-

How did you get on?
Sorry for such a long delayed reply but family health probs have clipped my wings time wise....still the same really but life goes on!.

Enjoyed playing with the C-band experience and considering my 1.2m was used I was really pleased to see the first of the scan results with various sats.
At the time I took various pics etc intending to post here but suffice is to say I never found sufficient time to participate.
Anyway, still manage to read and enjoy the daily posts to the degree that 'Huevos' and others have convinced me that a 1.8m dish would be the one to have!

Think I was lucky this weekend in seeing an ad for a '1.9m' dish because 'the owner was going back to the U.K.'..........managed to buy and collected it for only €200 (location...Ciudad Quesada, Alicante)...........looks to me that it is a 1.8m Famaval......¿perhaps others can confirm the pictures?

Stand is Famaval, back ring looks like Mafara. I've got one of each here. Pity it is only an az/el mount.

Actually I think the backring is Famaval. Just not often you see a galvanized Famaval.

Yes, and not only that the LNB holder is Famaval. The Marrafa one is metal and the supports are aluminium with M6 bolts. Yours is plastic with steel supports and M8 bolts into plastic inserts.

Now you just need a polar mount. ;)

You really should think about a polar mount. But looks good.

Took me a year to find a polar mount for mine. And then a neighbour asked me to move a dish and it had a polar mount, so I swapped it for a fixed one.

Hi.......just looking at the Famaval .pdf catalogue I see that they actually quote now that the 'Back Mount Material' is of Galvanised Steel.

'And then a neighbour asked me to move a dish and it had a polar mount, so I swapped it for a fixed one.'.....good move......I will be on the lookout for a polar mount. With what I paid I am really pleased and I think I have seen/read that you can buy an LNB holder that is capable of both 40mm to 60mm adaptability.

Sleep well all. :-sleep:-sleep

If you open it fully you can easily fit the C-band LNB in the Ku band holder. Might need to change the screws for longer ones, but apart from that it will work fine.

Coverage will be approx 11.0ºW - 53.0ºE (my other dish covers 63.0ºW - 58.0ºE but located in Cordoba).

Base comprises tiled floor, layer of concrete then reinforced concrete (hormigon) giving approx 18cm depth.
Fixed with M12 threaded bolt + Taco quimico - giving permanent floor mount!

Floor mount had a few rust spots so treated with Antioxidante paint.

Rim of dish was scratched in 3 x places, touched up with very old Humbrol 'plastic aircraft' paint!

Intend to cover Huevo's suggestion and buy longer bolts for the LNB holder to accomodate the C-band LNB.

Very pleased with the install outcome and impressed with the build quality of the Famaval dish and floor mount.

Dish/mount/floor stand & quad LNB for €200 euros (approx 160 pounds) + install materials....... a happy bunny!

Looking forward to the C-band trials.

Done as you suggested, thanks, and used a 1 metre threaded bolt cut down then finally shortened to suit and covered with silicone grease.
.....works a treat. :-applause

Nice result for me yesterday at 20.0ºE Arabsat 5C:-

And 26.0ºE

Builders doing more work and grandaughter all weekend so I nip in and out as time allows, nevertheless well pleased with findings so far and certainly the C-Band involment is proving its worth.

I really do like the manual fiddling about to locate satellite and frequency etc and the 1.8m PF is certainly different to move compared with a 1.2m !!
Your words....... ''Now you just need a polar mount. ;)'' keep ringing in my ears!! ...........we shall see.
I mailed Famaval direct about the purchase of a polar mount asking them to name me a dealer nearest to Alicante so that I could discuss costings but have had no reply as yet so I do not suppose I will receive one, nevertheless yourself you said it took you a year before securing one.....anyway I am on the lookout.
