Good morning,

Typical but after reading all the interesting threads re C-Band and its associated frequencies, LNB's etc I would like to have a look/see myself.

Never done C_Band in the 20 odd years of the hobby but having more time now would ask the following :-

Have 1.2m offset motorised and have read re: 11.0ºW and others that I may see ok with the 1.2m.
¿Is there a recommended off the shelf LNB that I can start with. Appreciate re: the vast range of LNB's with scalar rings/feedhorn pairings complexabilty etc.....which is why I would like a 'simple' start with the 'smaller' dish.

I have seen a thread content re: the Titanium Satellite C1PLL and wondered if this would be ok for me or not.....seems only available from the U.S.A.

Anyway, if you could kick me in the right direction that would be great, thanks.

Enjoy your day. :)

Get the ESX241 and an offset feedhorn. The ones supplied with LNBs are for prime focus dishes and don't work well at all with offset ones. Don't expect to get many satellites... 20E, 3E, 5W, 11W 22W, 24.5W, 27W and 40W is what I could get on my 1.2m dish but far from all channels.

Enough to dip your toe in the water but then you'll start wanting larger dishes, custom depolariser plates....

CJ, thanks for the reply and will buy as you suggest.

Having read some of the threads yourself, VS, nelson_b and many others are involved in I can see what a 'dip your toe in the water' start leads to...........but you would not change it I bet.

Cheers again. :)

Just don't get your self a c/ku combined . I have gibitini op1.25 and run a cpp lnb and a BSC 421. And can't grumble with either lnb.

Some Egyptian channels on 3688 R... it's not very strong but it is there on the 1.5m and was there on the 1.2m but signal levels seem to have gone down a little over the past few months.

:-rofl2 Reserve CJ here; mainly there´s only strong mux from Egypt (3686R). Also you can find (not here with 2.3m mesh) 4122R Burkina Faso RTB. It was earlier easy channel when used east-hemi but now only Global-beam left. And 3rd channel here RTS1 (Senegal) but never saw it myself here (24.5W).

Since RTB moved to the new frequency, I don't see a peep from it.

Yes, and sure allways remember guys that I am outsider from UK perspective, when reading signal strenght findings etc. We give you different perspectives with Costa from Canada:D (of course adonis1, huevos etc. also not Uk only)!

Yep, indeed. Chris is about 40 miles south of me so his results should be similar to mine.

Yep the ESX imo is the best you can get and only about £25 from the usa to your door ..
delivery times vary but my most recent ESX took about a week and a half ..
If you are intending to use on an offset dish the conical feed and adapter is a must have ..
..and yes you will get enough channels to justify the purchase ..but it wont be long before you want a bigger dish to get those channels that are just out of reach.
At the risk of repeating what I posted in the past ..
The buzz I got from receiving my first C band channels took me right back to my childhood and the thrill of DXing foreign channels from great distances on Short Wave radio..
Good luck you LovelyPerson ..and welcome to the club..

Thanks, yes have read about the c/ku combo and I think the basic comment was that reception of the ku was not brilliant.

Since the reply from CJ I have looked for a european supplier of the ESX241 and an offset feedhorn but have only seen the ebay U.S. offers etc so I have asked the manufacturers if they can help me locate one.

I will now look at the ones you mention, I have an offset dish, have you an idea where I may place an order for the LNB and offset feedhorn.

Thanks for your info given. :)

I would suggest a minimum dish size of 1.8m and as mentioned above do not get a c/ku feed. The esx241/2 is an excellent lnbf and the bsc422 that I'm using on my 3m bud.

Definitely agree. The 1.5m was very frustrating. With the 1.8 I don't get many extra beans but the ones I do are much more watchable.
