C120 LNB on Prime focus dish got damaged-identify other part

Looks like the polariser. Used in older systems that had a separate wire from the receiver to change polarities. These days most polarisers are built in to the LNB and controlled by the voltage up the coax.

riginal setup was I think Pace 508IP and now I am using Vbox and Vu+duo.Looks like I can leave it out.

Yep, just attach the c120 straight to the feedhorn.

Well.......They were connected to the Pace 1000IP which was still in use up until a few months ago.The guy who installed the Vbox connected one of the wires to the 5V connection on the vbox although it would seem that this part was no longer required since the original LNB was replaced many moons ago.PaulR said:

BTW. Still have one of those old LNB's attached to .90M dish in the garage gathering dust.

Well a polariser is not intended to be connected directly to a +5V supply with earth return. It's a series current-controlled device (usually +/- 50mA) to adjust the H/V polarity.
+5V permanently connected would magnetise the coil with ~50mA (assuming a coil resistance of 100 ohms). That would hold the polarity to either H or V, depending on the sense of the wired connections.
The polarotor on my original SMW LNB setup was very useful for adjusting minute levels of skew for best signal at extreme ends of the satellite arc. Happy analogue days

who use this?
is the lnb a universal? if so he cab bolt it to the feed horn.
there should be a rubber seal in the middle .
also has there been any recent testing of c120 lnbs?
like the best quatro for centralized multiswitch.
