THIS MORNING AT 10.30 AM I HAD NO SIGNAL STREGHT AND 30% QUALITY ON 11778. I 'VE CONNECTED THE BOX ON THE PIECE OF 30MT.
WELL, I HAD 30% SIGNAL STRENGH E NO QUALITY AND "no signal is........".
WHY THIS?
DURING THIS WINTER WITH 160 MT OF CABLE I CAN GET 2A NORTH BEAM FOR ALL DAY!
CAN A POLARIZER HELP ME?

You are pushing your luck with 130m cable.I suggest you use a couple of line amps on your cable.
By the way...what is your signal level at the dish? (minus your cable run)
Your dish might need a little sensitive tweaking or LNB skew adjustment.

ciao,
under the dish with 5 mt of ct100 from UK i cant get 2A north beam, like if the tuner is "swamped".
the dish is very accurate , just a little moviment and i lose the signal.
if i want see the low frequency i want move the dish on the right, if i want see the high frequency on the left but just same millimeter.
the skew is the same, i can choose for to get the H or V. Now i can get for 18/24h the north beam of 2a.

Is the skew of 2d the same of the other 2a and 2B?
Thanks Iceman

No it is NOT...skew adjustment plays a very important factor in digital reception, specially on weaker signals.

If you dont have professional digital sat meter, the easiest solution would be to connect receiver to your 5 mt of ct100 with a TV set nearby & tune to a channel on 2D.
Move the LNB to left or right till you get the picture.(that is if your setup can pull the signal from 2D)

by setup,i mean....if your dishsize + LNB config is sufficient to receive signal from 2D from your geographical location.

 This is the problem.
i dont now if astra 2d is ok in our area.
the nearest is SIENA (FLORENCE), with a 130/180 is ok for all the morning.
Im 200 km below this point, the same latitude of Rome.
i ve increase my dish from 140,to 240 to 300 cm.
im very "take" from this question.
we have the dish satellite from 12 year.
Pace , Echostar 8700, D2 mac ecc.

Thank you Iceman,
i now all the trheads where astra 2d is nominated.
i think you are in a sidelobe are a of astra 2d.
I remember 10 years ago, the same problem was on ex Marco Polo (now Sirius 5°est) where showed the Italian Football.
In Milano 150 cm not able to get it, here with a 120 Echostar (like a Channel Master) and a 8700 Echostar the signal was very strong!!!!!! (i'm 600 Km below Milano).
Anyway, i try to move the skew the lnb for to set 2d, and i report asap.
Thank you again ICEMAN.
Bye

Hi Barney,
One of the options that would most certainly help is a Polorator with an ADI KU feed this is possibly one of the best feedhorns you can purchase from experience, when I fitted it to my own 3.8 and 2.0 and 1.8 mtr dishes(Two Homes) I saw at each location siginficant improvements. I estimate between 1 and 2.8 db improvment dependent on the dish.
The problem is however that you can not use then a normal Universal LNB.

The seperation of vertical and Horizontal signals is significantly improved with full adjustablity for outside footprint reception.

ADI feeds horns etc can be seen and purchased at very competitive prices from Astrotel etc within the UK and also at the importers in Portugal.

A magnetic poloriser setup would help with the skew adjustment, however they also create a loss of approx 0.5 db due to insertion, and once again then a normal Sky box can not control without external modification

Cable - do you have a single length or is it joined? 130 mtr what is the quality 16db per 100 mtr ?

Good Hunting

THE CABLE IS TWO PIECE (100 + 30 MT) WIYH A JUNCTION.
IF I CONNECT THE BOX WITH ONLY THE 100 MT I CANT GET SOME CHANNEL.
YES I LOSE FOR SOME HOURS THE HIGH FREQUENCY (WHERE I THINK THE LNB WORK VERY WELL) BUT THIS SETUP I GET 11778 v.
WHY , FOR YOU, ONLY THIS FREQUENCY???

Hi Barney,

Just checked and I have seen that ADI feeds are now owned by Patriot Satellite based in the USA, On their web site the feed is no longer availible.

I also checked the ADI web site and could not find the feedhorn there either.

I have checked the Astrotel and they still list the feedhorn, but as to if you can still purchase ?

AKUF is the part number For KU band only

ARPICP400CKU is for C and KU - I have both feed horns and both work very well.

Please note that for your solution you should not fit the latter though - the extra gain is offset by the additional C band functional losses.

Ciao Old Satellite.
i ve speak with my techo-man.
the problem is the LNB, because the polarizer has a flange C120 from a way, and a WR75 from another way.
i need of an adaptor from WR75 to C120.
What you think?
if a change the lnb, i have need of 4 channel om my Echostar analogic. One for Low band H, one for Low band V, one for High band H and one High band V.
It is no very simple to control .
Bye

Dear Barney,

I read your messages. I have got a 3m dish in Sothern Italy.
Like you, I am not able to catch Astra 2d. But a 90 cm dish should be enough for Astra 2A.

I live in Basilicata. If you want, I will contact you by e-mail., but I need your address.
I am not a dealer, just an enthusiast with many years of
experience. What you observed about the length of the cable is rather interesting! Before buying new items, ask people here in the forum if is worth spending money!

Hi Barney,

What is the make of your dish ? normally you should be able to fit the ADI feeds to prime focus dishes without to much problems?

What LNB set up are you running now?
