I kknow i need two signals into the back of my sky HD box But can i split the one cable or do i need a dual lnb on my dish .
 
DONT try to split the cable - it will never work properly due to switching considerations. Swap the lnb for a quad output and run a new run of cable
 
That is the norm but.... you could also fit a stacker / De-stacker using only a single cable, also mentioned on other threads :D

These parts are not cheap ~ 109 pounds
I think that replacing the LNB or adding just another single one and run a cable will be a lot cheaper, unless running another cable is out of the question because of decoration reasons.
 
Yes, it's last resort if you are unable to run a second cable. They are cheaper than that though even retail :D

They need to be fitted with the correct cable ( benchmarked )

From your first post we got the impression that it is YOUR dish.
As it is a communal, it could complicates things as you need the consent of all the neighbours to make changes, as it would cost money and perhaps not all of them want to pay for the cost of these changes.
Suggest to talk with your neighbours and see what they think.
 
If it is communal, you need to identify whether there is a redundant output on the multiswitch, then your only option will probably be a stacker de-stacker, unless of course a secondary cable run is possible.

PS. Beware making changes to communal systems unless you a) have permission and B) have the knowledge to do it (if not, use the company who installed it), as losing another resident his TV signal can cause a lot of upset, losing it for the whole block can cause riots. ;)
 
LOL:-rofl2 I once was told about the fella on the top floor who unplugged a subscriber cable from one of the ports of the switch and connected a second cable to his flat. Took 3 months b4 the installer found the problem. The loft access were in his flat :D:D
