3 M prime focus C120 quad LNB feeding Sky plus box.
98 cm off set focus motorised dish quad LNB feeding Technomate TM-6800 HD Super.
1M Fixed dish single LNB feeding TM-5400 CI+ USB

Paphos region of Cyprus
Being new to all this I have a few questions about CAM's.
I want to get a CAM and I'm not sure which one to go for.
I have searched this and other forums and it would seem that the Dragon cam is the best to go for as it decodes multiple encryptions. Is this the only card to do this or are there others? If so what?
Will a Dragon reliably decode FTA Sky using my FTA Sky Card?
I'm sure there are more questions but that will do for now.

Better to go with diablo cam more channels available with this cam and more support.Don't know about the fta channels on sky.
 
You do not need a card for FTA (Free to Air) channels, only for scrambled channels, which include FTV (Free to View) channels, which don't require a subscription, but do require a card, involving a one off payment, to view them.
 
Sorry Mickha, I meant FTV not FTA my mistake. I have the Sky FTV £20 card. I would like to know if it will work in a Dragon CAM or as colinp says a Diablo CAM.
I have an ICE FC3000CI receiver.

It will work in a Dragon Cam, and there are reports that it can work in a Diablo Cam, but I can't confirm this, and it might require a special file.
The Diablo currently opens a lot more than the Dragon, and support for the Dragon cam seems to have dried up.
It would help a lot if you told us which satellites you can pick up, apart from 28.2E, and what else you would like from the Cam.

I'm not even sure of that yet. I know that probably sounds daft to you "pros" but I am in the process of putting together a system and experimenting. I don't have anything in particular in mind yet.
As I say I have the sat receiver I've just bought a 1.2m offset dish and a Titaniun TQSG Quad LNB.
The next will be a motor drive but in the meantime I will just reposition it manually and see what I can pick up.
This w-ends project is to actually get this lot installed.
At the moment it is hooked up to a standard sky minidish and cheapo LNB and gets about 4 sats the names of which escape me at present,

In about a years time I will be moving to Cyprus and this is efectively a learning experience so that I know a little about home satellite reception for when I'm there.
Hopefully this will become a hobby for my spare time. I hope to have plenty of that as I'm taking early retirement:)

With a 1.2 Metre dish, in the UK, you will get a wide choice of satellites from 42E to 30W, depending on line of sight.
At the moment, with the Diablo Cam, you can open the following packages, Digital + and Premiere on 19.2E, TPS and Polsat on 13E, Cabo and Digital + on 30w.
The Dragon Cam can currently open Premiere and Digital +, not TPS.
There is more support for the Diablo Cam, than the Dragon, at the moment, as support for the Dragon Cam seems to have ended.
You might consider changing your receiver, as a Dreambox can open all these channels, and has the ability to not only read a S*y card, but can also interpret the stay alive signal, something a Cam can't do.
The only problem with the Dreambox is that being a Linux receiver it does require some work.
If you just want to check out Cams, I would advise you get a Cas 3 +, this can program both the Diablo and Dragon Cams, and your choice of cams.
