can a signal of 66% stand the rain

I have just installed a 96cm channel master on thor at 1 west. The signal quality is about 75% on the canal digital channels which is good but on some of the digi tv channels its 66%. I have spent a lot of time triyng to get better and i cant , so i just want to know can the rain freeze any of those channels that has a 66% signal quality.

According to the footprint map for Thor, I'm just outside the extreme limits, but receive Canal Digital transponders (e.g. CCTV 9) at 89 strength, 85 quality.

Seems to me like you may still have some fine adjusting to do as you are further inside the footprint. Can you check what strength signal you are getting on the TD 110, and use it as a guide for the CM?

Kind of hit and miss. I am picking up most of the canal nordic transponders with about 80-85% strength+quality on a 1m in Dublin but the one with CCTV9 is only coming in around 70% and I am not too far from Westmeath.
 
I would try a channel master feedhorn and c120 invacom lnb to squeaze as much signal from the dish as possible. You should see noticable results.
 
I would check on my triax but out of all the satellites i can recieve on it thor is the weekest which should not be the case as its 1.1. It was installed a good while back by an installer. I have still a motrised 88cm triax in my mothers, must check it there. I have a cm feedhorn and inverto lnb on the 96cm channel master so i should get better. The kids trampoline is covering a small fraction of the signal as i have the dish on a pole in the garden i wonder could that cause a drop in the signal. I must move it back.
 
Where are you getting the 66% from? The figure is a relative indication only, and means nothing unless qualified by some sort of absolute value.

Eg on my Tm1000 super 66% is what I get on 7W, and below that I get pixelation. |When it rains I lose it. But it also depends on the symbol rate and fec ratio used as well.

On my other Tm(6800) I only need 49%.- the values are receiver specific.

You can place gentle pressure on the dish to see if you can improve the signal at all, and tweak the lnb skew and position, and yes, you don't want stuff in the way of the dish.
 
When you say skew and position. Skew is twist the feedhorn/lnb. When you say position do you mean move it back and forwards towards the dish to improve the signal.

the signal % is addicted,to the fec;the channel is using,and the symborates,when it is normal 27500 3/4,then there is no problem,in cband on low simbolrates and 7/8 you need on some transponders for e.g ritmoson music channel on 43 west 50% signal,when its lower the picture interrupts!
on nhk in cband,is funny to see,that when the sending with 1/2 and low simbolrate also 08-10% signal is enough,for a good picture without interrupts!
 
Hi m8 ..
by position ..he means applying gentle pressure to the left and right edges of the dish ..effectively rotating around the pole ..
Then up and down (top and bottom edges of the dish) to establish your elevation is optimised..
then you can think about moving the lnb slightly in and out toward the dish surface (this is focal point adjust)
..finally skew ..which as you corrrectly assume is rotating the lnb within its clamp ..again for optimum gain on horizontal and vertical transponders alike..

Thanks for all the tips guys, ill have a go tomorrow to see if i can get a better signal.
