Hi guys...
have an old Compaq armada e500 laptop on which I have put XP..worked a treat until I let it drop and the corner of the laptop where the DC jack power socket is has been damaged,so I am looking to source a new DC jack...can anybody point me in the right direction please..I've googled but couldn't find anything....as usual any help is greatly appreciated..

assuming your not interested in cosmetics then why not just hard wire it, but you'll have to check that you haven't damaged any of the pcb tracks, additionally the knock may have caused other damage, - take it to a tv repair shop if they know what they are doing a bit of pcb repair and getting it back up and running shouldn't be difficult.... (or costly)...

ps what you should be looking for is a dc pcb mini socket or similar, looking for
compaq specific spare is like buying your car halogen headlamps from the dealers show room - will cost a fortune for a rebranded package - the dc jack you want shouldn't be much more than in the range 50 cents to a couple of euro's
