Can anyone identify this ("Digiality"-branded) 1.2m offset dish?

Hi everyone,

in my quest in looking for a suitable dish for receiving Astra 2D in Denmark, I have been given this dish for free from a broadcasting company that was clearing a store-room. It is about 1.2m, and is clearly plastic moulding, probably with fibre-glass coating or similar. There are no mold-marks on the back of the dish (at least that I can see) that could identify the mfg.

I believe Digiality is a brand-name of a Scandinavian company, but I don't think they actually make dishes. This leads me to think it is manufactured by someone else. Any ideas?

I am of course trying to find out if it is any good, and worth the effort of mounting and trying out to see if it will get a decent signal.

Any ideas?

Looks like it was vehicle mounted originally, which i guess would follow if it were used possibly for outside broadcast, certainly looks like a good quality unit.

Found the dimensions on the Danish web-page, and it matches as well.

But it seems to be an OEM dish, as there guys are also box-shifters rather than dish-designers. Anyway, I'll probably have a go at mounting this just to what it's like. But I don't expect it to be big enough to yield proper 2D reception. We'll see.
 
it will be worth a try and fit an Inverto black ultra lnb to the dish to see what your 28east reception is like.
 
Good idea. Not sure if the one that came with the dish is any good (although it probably isn't all bad) - but it'll be old.
Don't have an Inverto, but I do have two Invacom LNBs, one single (standard) and one dual (C120 + adapter). They should do a similar job.
Plan is to mount the dish tomorrow, then try the LNB it came with, and then swap for the Invacom.
But measuring will have to wait until end of the working week, as I need to get my company's sat-meter to do any proper measurements.
 
...and of course we've had rain rain rain.

But in a slight break in the showers, I've mounted the dish now on a wooden pole (test rig), and pointed it at 28.2E, and hooked up the TV Explorer. Using the LNB that came with the dish (see pic earlier in thread), I can actually get:

- 8.6 db C/N on 10773H (BBC transponder) or so, but no constant lock (bery bad blocking).
- 9.x db C/N on 10729V (E4/CH4) almost watchable.
- 12.x db C/N on 11954H (BBC News on 2B). Clean and strong.

Interstingly, this is very similar to what I had with the Fortec Cr*p 1.8m dish + invacom LNBs.

More interestingly, as a quick try-out I mounted the Invacoms (both a single and a double/C120) on the dish, and got much worse results. Not sure how that works out, it may be the F/D-match between dish and LNB not being right. But I did play around with the dual with the (Invacom) feedhorn, and not much difference was to find. Hope I am doing something wrong, 'coz the invacoms sure aren't performing here.

Not sure a db or two from a different LNB will do the trick - I think I need a bigger dish, really.

Update to this one: I've finally found the mfg - it's a french dish made by Visiosat (Cahors Group), it's called the SMC 120 antenna. Like ASC / Skywear SMC dishes, this is available in Rx/Tx version for the pro/semi-pro market in addition to the Rx only version for TV reception. They also make offset brackets etc, and even get dish heaters to go with it...
 
ive got a gt-s40 lnb here at home i keep it as a spare cause its the best of the rest i own . although its not as good as an ultra black its handy as a spare .
