I have a dream box 500,now it keeps getting disconnected from the PC.
On the PC dream box control centre the line going to the dream box pic. keeps going red,at least once a week,I then search for a new IP adress and it keeps coming up with the one thats on the PC. When it decides to put another address in it will wotk.....but why does it keep losinfg the IP address in the first place?????

Possibly the ip lease expiring.

Set the DB up on a static (reserved) IP rather than relying on the DNS function

Networking is a bit of a a black art, but you allocate it an address on your router (assuming you are using your router to assign addresses), reserve it - will tell you how to do it in the router help somewhere, and then set the same ip up on the DB.

This is how my network is set up:

IP configuration:

192.168.0.x
255.255.255.x

192.168.0.1 router
192.168.0.2 Dell Dimension 5150 desktop
192.168.0.3 Compaq Evo laptop (radio card)
192.168.0.4 Acer laptop (radio card)
192.168.0.5 Samsung colour laser
192.168.0.6 Compaq Evo ethernet port
192.168.0.7
192.168.0.8
192.168.0.9
192.168.0.10 Dreambox 7020

192.168.0.40 reserve for DB streaming via ngrab

192.168.0.237 Slingbox

Uncheck the DHCP option next to ip in dreambox..... that keeps it to a single IP.... DHCP gives the router to assign any ip address to the dm.
I also had the same problem with i started with it.
hope this solves it..
