Hello Guys,
I have a fixed multi lnb dish TD110 [0.8w, 4.8e (main focus), 9.0e, 13.0e & 19.2e], is it possible if I motorize it and keep all the lnbs so that when I move the main lnb (4.8e) back to 4.8e from say 7.0e I can pick up channels from other fixed lnbs?
How can I make this dream possible (To use one dish as fixed dish/motorized dish) will I need two switches?:-worship
In truth there is little point in having extra lnbs on a motorised dish ...plus there would be complications ..
As you will no doubt realise the extra lnbs are usually offset at a staggered series of elevations on a fixed dish biased either side of the focus some higher and some lower depending on the sats they are pointing at ..
The only exception to this would be where the lnb at the focus is at the apex 0.8West..
In this case to the right and left of the focus the lnbs would be all lower ..again staggered by degrees ..
Now move the dish and these lnbs no longer hit any sats accurately..as they can't all follow a true arc ...only at the focus is this possible ..
So ..really extra lnbs are a bit pointless unless you can get a couple extremely close to the focus ..
I do this on my TD110 ..as one of them is a ka band lnb ...but this cannot truely follow the arc ..so I have preset its elevation to be optimised to hit 9 East ...but only on one side of the arc can it follow a true path ..the other side of the arc will show errors of accuracy ..
In short ...its a bit pointless unless you want an offset lnb to hit a specific target offset by a specific number of degrees at a specific point in the dishes travel..
You can still use all the extra lnbs by returning the dish to the exact point whereby the lnb at the focus hits its original intended target of course ..
but once motorised only the lnb at the focus will truely follow the arc..
..and if you want this then an 8 port diseqc 1.1 uncomitted switch is probably your best bet ..
..and is relatively cheap on ebay..
Make sure your receiver driving the motor supports diseqc 1.1 in the menus ..before getting one.
