Can LNB get too cold?

My Satellite Setup
Dreambox 7020, HH120 Discq notor with Triax 1.1m
Hi

I have not had power on my motorised system for three weeks (building work) and having just reconnected it it no longer works.

Signal strength is 70% but no SNR, lock, etc. Is it possible for the LNB to be faulty as it has been extremely cold and if would bringing it in restore it (I dod not want to get ladders out if I am barking up the wrong tree).
 
Try sending it to reference, then see if it'll find the satellite again.

Sent it to reference, moved it left and right of reference and also sent it to where the presets were stored.

The motor and dish move but signal strength is 71% and signal quality 0. The strength moves slightly but never above 72% and never get signal quality and thus I suspect the LNB (I presumed lack of power may have frozen it but really guessing as no real experience). I have kept power on for over an hour but still no joy.
 
LNBs normally aren't affected by the cold, could be dish alignment if you had windy weather, or perhaps water ingress.
 
Might the builders have knocked the elevation off?

They should not have as they were to go careful but as the LNB is now looking unlikely from Rolfw post then they may have
 
In addition, check the LNb feed connector hasn't come away, been dislodged or snapped off from the motor.
 
I would check the cable between the LNB and motor first. If the dish moves to a correct position , you could bypass the motor temporarily to see if signal comes down to the receiver.
 
colder the LNB the better the signal

must be motor/dish alignment or something

I always keep my receiver on during cold nights just to keep a current going through - I dont know if this actually achieves anything but it helps me sleep at night !
 
To be noted, at temperatures below -50C most LNBs start to fail, but recover when temperature rises again. Putting it to -60C or lower permanently damages it. I was playing with LNB cooling in liquid nitrogen, killed a bunch of them :)
 
it would be a lot simpler to change the lnb if you have 1 or stick a meter on , before messing with elevation etc.
But does look like builder may have knocked dish.
