I have two dishes, one dedicated to Astra2 and another with Astra2 as one of the LNBs.
Until three days ago it worked and I could see Astra1, Hotbird and Astra2 but my channels were all messed up with many multiples so I decided to clear the decoder and start again. No Astra2. I changed the LNBs for new ones and still no Astra2.
I mention having two dishes since the chances of them both suddenly being out of alignment are nil.
My decoder is a Humax TN5000HD.

What on earth is going one here? Any ideas?

thanks

Have you checked the DiSEqC 1.0 settings?

I think I have. The switch us usually set to DISABLE so I change it for each satellite to go from '1 of 4' to '2 of 4' and so on. I then get a signal for the satellites depending on where it is connected but for Astra2, nothing and no Diseq setting gives a signal

Try moving the Astra 2 cable to a different input on the switch, to one you know is working. If you get signal then the switch isn't working.

You could also try bypassing the switch and connecting it directly to the receiver.

Have you tried scanning Astra 2? It's possible the first transponder in the list is incorrect or not being used. Also check the LNB settings are universal 9750/10600 and LNB power is set to on.

LNB is universal and 9750/10600/11700.
22KHZ control is off (whatever that means) and then it also, by default, says the transponder is 11222MHz/27500. Diseqc repeat if off. If I set the DiseqC switch to disable or any other value it makes no difference. I have tried scanning and of course it finds nothing. I am discounting th dishes being our of alignment since there are two on two different mountings and it worked until recently.
Could it be the decoder not sending the right signals for this satellite? I doubt that since the signal is directed to a DiseqC port and not a satellite per se.

Is it possible that the LNBs have been burnt out or damaged? I will check this when I get new LNBS in a couple of days but could it happen that the decoder sends too high a voltage or something?

I have checked the signal levels with a finder and they all seem OK but if the wind had moved them then the other satellites would also be affected I guess. I will recheck when I change the LNBs

It defaults to OFF and to change it I need to change from UNIVERSAL to USER DEFINED with the same settings. Tried this and still no signal and still no channels

Can LNBs be hot swapped or do I need to switch off the decoder - ditto when I do a signal test?

There is no active transponder on 11222MHz/27500, try changing it to 10847 V 23000.

Universal is the correct setting, if 22KHz is greyed out or unchangeable then it will be on.

Can't change the transponder? Is there a transponder list anywhere in the menus?

Yes but I can't edit or add a new one for some reason. Eurobird1 is fixed at transponder frequency 11222 and symbol rate 27500, horizontal. Since this worked a few days ago, it ought not be related to the transponder frequency. When I add a new satellite I have a cghoice of transponders but they start with 11222 and go to 12643.

As a really dumb question, I thought a satellite had a single transponder for all channels. Is this true and if not, why not? There are many mysteries - like why do they talk about FEC and symbol rate? It is not as thoug there are different channels on the same transponder for different symbol rates and as far I can see, FEC is irrelevant in practice.

I am sure the solution to this will come down to me having done something stupid - but what?

There are many transponders:

Did you just delete channels or factory reset the box? If you factory reset the box you may have deleted all the transponders in the database. There must be a way to manually add or edit transponders.

Is NIT or Network Search turned on? If you disable that does it let you edit the transponder?

What happens if you change the satellite to 26E BADR? It has many transponders that are similar to Astra 2, you may get lucky.

26E BADR - nothing at all.
And yes, I did a factory reset..but the transponders are all in the DB.
I checked out the Flysat site. If I point to a satellite, how come I need to select just a single transponder since the channel are all on different ones.
There is something I don't understand here. Is the transponder you select the first and it scans from there?

Transponders can contain a transponder list of that particular satellite. This is what NIT or Network Search looks for. If the transponder you have selected isn't active (like 11222H) then it can't find this data.
