Satellite pay-TV platform operator Canal Digital has launched technical tests to simulate its Conax conditional access system (CAID 0B00) with the systems of the rival Viasat platform.
The test position "Test 7459" on the Thor 7 satellite was encoded not only by the Conax system used by Canal Digital, but also with Videoguard systems - specifically with CAID 093E and 0940, which belong to a rival DTH operator of Viasat.
The technical tests of the Conax and Videoguard simulcyptu systems are related to the October agreement between Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) and Viasat Consumer on the merger of DTH services Canal Digital and Viasat. The combined company is intended to provide substantial synergies and value to shareholders, as well as to provide customers with a better offer. The paid DTH service will use the capacity on Thor satellites.
The combination of DTH services is subject to approval by EU regulatory authorities and is expected to be completed in mid-2020.
technical parameters - Test 7459:
• Thor 7 (0.8°W), freq. 12,322 GHz, h, SR 30000, FEC 3/4, DVB-S2/8PSK, CA Conax + Videoguard
