got a black screen on the viewfinder and also on the pullout lcd ,took it in to jessops and assistant there was baffled ,normally they throw up an error message on the screen ,seems like the shutter is closed ,any clues out there ,thanks
 
Lots of ppl appear to be suffering from what they call 'black screen syndrome'. If you type "problems with canon mv 600i" into google you will see quite a bit about it. It's down to a faulty CCD apparantly and some sufferers are talking about getting up a petition to send to Canon because many of the cameras have had little use. Best of luck.

Let us know how you get on wonderbar1. I hope canon realise that they may have to look at the quality of that CCD.
