My Satellite Setup
technomate 6800hd
80cm dish and monoblock
60cm sky dish
My Location

Can any one help?? I have a normal sky dish which gives me freeview an a 80cm dish (with monoblock) that i installed myself and a 6800hd receiver. Both satellites feed a diseqc 4way switch.
I used a satellite meter to find astra 19.2e and have 80% quality .The problem is when i use astra 1, i seemed to get mostly the normal freeview channels and the odd foreign one. The list of channels is over 1000 but most of do nothing (no or bad signal). Not all the transponders have any quality-is it other transponders i need to use?
I have also purchased a diablo cam with the latest underworld to unlock digi tv and canal digitaal but cant even find them.
What am i doing wrong?
Cheers,Simon
ps. I live in Sunderland if that helps.

The answer lies in the fact that a monobloc already has a diseqc switch inbuilt which you are then feeding into another switch. Astra 1 is at 19.2 East not 28.2 East, I think you need to start from first principles and build up from there. What degree of separation does the monobloc have?

Moved from the DigiTV section as this is more relevant.

Uncommitted switch required for use with a monobloc LNb having an internal committed switch.

Why do you have a monoblock on the 80cm dish? You don't need it for just 19e.

There's no way you will get DigiTV wth that setup, you don't have a dish pointing at 1W.

Sounds to me, that you should really have a motorised dish, then you could pick and choose which satellites you want.

Does this mean i need a single lnb so i can use both dish on the diseqc switch-i would like to keep other dish for my english channels(itv ,bbc etc).
Or would i be better off getting a "uncommited switch" ?
It doesnt need to be the astra 1 satellite inparticular, thor would be great also, just would like some new hd stuff, footy and films if possible.

Thanks for all your replys.I got sorted- just used my 80cm dish on its owne at moved it to thor 1w and bingo-got the channels i wanted!!
So now im trying to get an uncommited diseqc so i can have both satellites working together.
One last thing, how do get a channel to stop sticking from time to time? Does the lnb needing tweeking?

If you are not using the monoblock to its full poptential, i.e just picking up from 1W with the other dish on 28E, then yes ditch the monoblock, get a single LNB and it will work fine. Just connect up the standard Diseqc 1.0 switch.

Are you using the part of the monoblock that is at the dish focus? You can put you hand over it, and if you lose 1W then you are.

Isn't there a mod for connecting up two switches that will give you the same result as an uncommitted?

Yes, but I have never actually tried it. Inputs 1 and 2 of the switch are connected together somehow, so that both inputs of the monoblock can be selected. There are threads on here describing the methods used. But if the monoblock is not being fully used anyway, there seems little point in messing about.

I think il get a single lnb an save all the hassel.Cant seem to find auncommited switch.I have been able to try the hand over th lnb trick -i work away at the moment and only get home for the weekend.
Any particular lnb i should go for with HD set up? I know it needs to fit into the collar on the dish.
Cheers,guys

The Inverto Black Ultra and Smart Titanium have fairly good reports, although all much a likeness.
