i cant get a fix on hotbird 13e,with 80cm dish.im on lat.55.8 lon.3.66,anyone else had this problem?
 
Nope.

Hotbird is a massive signal throughout the UK and your 80cm Dish should be more than suitable.

What Make/Model Dish is it?

What LNB are you using?
 
According to Streetmap.co.uk, you are surrounded by trees between Hendry's Corse and Bye Law Hill!

Is Worm Law hill affecting your line of sight?

(I am assuming your Longitude is West, otherwise you are on a rig in the North Sea............. )
 
Putting two and two together to make seven, if you are using USALS, have you entered "W" or "-" for your Longitude?

If not, you are going to be 2*3.66 = 7.32 degrees out, roughly.
 
Yet to know if it's a fixed or motor system.

my location is lat. 55.8. long.-3.6.its a fixed dish.point is i can get astra 28.23.&19,no problem,but very little else,including hotbird.im not exactly a novice at this,but no expert.not sure make of dish,german i think,from ebay,im pretty sure the lnbs alright got it from reliable source & its chucking it down right now so not going out to check.there is a tree blocking a bit to the west, but shouldnt block hotbird.

As said, Hotbird is v.strong. Should get it even on a SkyToyDish in W.Lothian on a good day!

Have you accounted for the higher Elevation required for Hotbird as compared to the other Satellites you mentioned? And the reduced LNB skew?

The reason I asked about the LNB is because the Fortec FSUKVN and an Icecrpyt (IIRC) LNB have a peculiar design which means the Skew setting is totally misleading. Easy to cater for once you know, but a source of angst if you don't.

PS: Don't send your rain down to N.Yorks as I'm in the middle of cleaning my windows :eek:
 
Yes, even miscounting the slight EL and skew differences from 19e, you should still
be getting a reasonable signal for 13e. Gordon has raised a fair point regarding the two LNb's mentioned. :)

What do you mean by this? Is it a multi LNB set up?
 
no its a twin lnb,feeding a technomate at the telly & a hauppauge in my pc.i just move it around to suit,its not that high up.doesnt need to be.but thanks to tivu & satellite man,what you say makes sense,but ill wait till i get one of the mates to give me a hand as its pretty frustrating running about like a headless chicken.ill let you know how it goes,cheers vanthus.
