I contacted some installers nearer here over the weekend. Both say they have installed many in the Seville area, that the reception in this area is excellent. They say that with my set-up the dish size is fine, and that I should be able to get the lot.
Well if they are so sure that it will work ask them if they won't charge you if they came and couldn't get it to work. As I said above I'm much closer to the footprint (probably 300 km closer) and can't get that transponder on a 1.5m.

My Satellite Setup
1.35cm dish. Shop 0.1 LNB. Pace Sky+ HD Receiver.
My Location
Seville, Spain
A Happy Ending:

Got an installer up: Paul Anderson, who can be found at www.skydigital.es. It seems both dish and LNB are pretty cheap, so it took about half an hour of Paul tweaking and adjusting the alignment of the dish and LNB. Basically, it wasn't aligned correctly enough for the sensitivity needed to get all transponders. Neither Spanish installer had the know-how to get it exactly right. Anyway, after half an hour, Paul managed to get it tuned in correctly, and I know get the lot. North beam signal isn't as strong as south, but it's fine. I lose the odd channel, like G.O.L.D. +1 in the evening - but I've now got all the sports channels and practically everything 24 hours a day. Maybe it's me, but the picture on the TV itself seems much better than before on all channels. Result!

Paul said that it was a simple poor alignment, and his main gripe seemed to be that in trying to get the orientation right, the first installers had bent the dish in several places, making it very difficult to get right. He said with a virgin dish this wouldn't have happened.

I paid a very reasonable 70 euros for his hour's work, which meant that all in all I laid out 320 euros. Paul says he would have charged 380 euros if he had done the installation from scratch. So, I saved a bit, but the amount of hassle I had for weeks and lack of telly wasn't worth it. There are several morals to the story: 1. You can get all channels fine down here with a 1.3m dish providing it's decent gear and installed right (sorry huevos - you're nearer but in a cold spot TV wise). 2. Don't use a Spanish installer unless they have previous experience not only of Sky, but Sky+, as the double cable thing seems to flummox them. You're better of sticking to someone who specialises in Sky, even if it might cost a bit more than someone local.

Two things in passing: I tried a friend's Invacom Quad LNB. An impressive bit of kit, but it didn't make any difference at all. Finally, a big thanks to Steve Harris (info@costaluz-electric.com) - another installer who I emailed for help and was always ready to give his time to try and help me sort things out. Obviously a good professional and someone who I would also recommend. And also a big thanks to anyone who offered assistance here. I hope my reporting back helps others in the same predicament at some point!

Now back to my telly. :-worship

Thanks again
