My Satellite Setup
DirecTV & old "non HD" "non DVR" regular old setup
My Location
Friendship Tn 38034
DirecTV dish & set top box. Everything worked until we got a storm and it shifted my dish. I got up on the roof soon after and barely pushed it to the side & it started beeping (saying signal found). But when i loosened it the screws to try and re-set it I was never able to find a signal again.
I have tried Manny different times but have never even got one beep from it (it beeps when a signal is found). I also changed out the coax under the house to the reciever. And changed out the LNB granted the new one could have been bad but I know the only one wasnt.
I just hoped someone had an idea of how to search or find a signal somehow

By the way I can't call DirecTV because it is my family's box and I don't pay for a subscription.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all

What kind of meter are you using?
If it's a basic one just increase the sensitivity, by turning the knob to the left, until it reads 5, even when you're not pointing at a satellite.
Gently move the dish, until it reads 10, then decrease the sensitivity, by turning the knob to the right, until it reads 5 again.
Keep doing this until you get the strongest signal, moving the dish East/West, left/right, then up/down.
Once you have the strongest signal possible check your receiver to see which satellite you are pointing at.

What size dish is being used ?

Not using a meter on the box in setup is has a meter per say I just turn it up so I can hear it in my roof

I'm not sure of the dish size I can check tho

get a cheap meter, makes it a lot easier, and considering they're less than £10 worth it:
satellite meter.webp

Go to dishpointer.com, enter your address and then select the DTV satellites your supposed to be looking at, then zoom into your location, it will give you a map with a line on it, showing where to point the dish, also the elevation settings and skew.
