Car manual publisher John Haynes dies

Anyone who has or had occasion to get down and dirty with the mechanics of cars or motor bikes will no doubt be aquainted with Haynes Manuals.

John Haynes, originator and publisher of the many manuals he produced has died aged 80.

Several passed through my hands during successful (or otherwise) repairs of various motors, and were usually well anointed with various oils (and bloodstains) in the process

The later ones were not as good as the early ones but I still have many under the bed on my bookshelf.

I have manuals for a few from the early teens, I have had to recover some from a few - off piste - locations in my time, often with the owner still on board (or nearby).
