Card and CAM programming ?????

what does programming cards and cams actually enable ????

does this unlock channels ????
if so what are they (english, french, etc / adult, sports, movies)

im new to all this and going to get a reciever with ci if it is worth it to me... please help

does anyone know of a good read on this subject with loads of info about it all.... thanks in advance :)

D+, Cabo and premier packages are open, plus a few more at the moment.

Some receivers need an external reader/card/ programmer to open channels and others don't e.g. Triple Dragon, Relook & Dreambox because they use software to emulate a cam.

As suggested, have a good read of the forum.

you've lost me now....
does a fortec star passion HD need one of those external reader/card/programmer to open channels...does this mean that you cant slot the diablo light into the ci to get it to work if they need the external/card/programmer ???????

triple dragon, reloo, dreambox: are these recievers that need the external equipment or not..... im very new to all this and want to start to get into it a little more, so im sorry if i sound a little dumb:-DOH2
