I have a diablo wireless (2 cams) and twinbase which I download stealth onto and also daily keys oh and I occasionally reset the software when I get a problem and thats all I do with my twinbase. I also have a dragon which I use with a dynamite programmer and an icecrypt which I haven't got a programmer for.

My brother is setting up a system similar to mine and he wants the twinbase and as it will be me buying it and teaching him how to use it I was thinking of buying the cas3 and a diablo light and giving him the twinbase and one of my wireless cams and me having the cas 3 as they are around the same price.

My question is, would I be better off with the cas3 than the twinbase as it would load my diablo dragon icecrypt and also I beliieve you can fix cams with it.
Would I ?

As you already have a wireless set up you should be able to judge the convenience of the wireless arrangement yourself.

With some packages changing keys three times a day recently it is far easier and quicker to update keys wirelessly instead of having to remove the cam.

Another advantage of the wireless version is that BISS has stopped working on the light with latest stealth. The new Fausto has features with the wireless cam which look interesting for future development.

I have never changed the keys wireless before I have always inserted the cam into the twinbase to do this.
I only ever use twinbase and never fausto is it fausto that you would update the keys with wirelessly?

The usual way of updating keys wirelessly is using the twinbase manager software.

Fausto is (unofficial?) software which is used to create updated key.bin files. Latest versions of Fausto can also connect with the cam wirelessly.

I'll leave it to your own imagination about what you can do with: computer linked to internet + key updating software + wireless connection with cam.

What I would like to be able to do is update the keys.bin without removing the cam from my stb, I think tbase is the most simple way.
Yet when I attempt it I get an error msg which reads
"error to get folder information"
I have tried reloading the cam but I still get the same msg, any ideas?

"error to get folder information" means the twinbase can't see the cam.

Assuming you've successfully married the cam to the base it means the twinbase is too far from the cam or there are too many walls in between. Try moving the twinbase.

20ft is ok. I had problems at first and had to try different positions for the twinbase using a long USB lead.

If still stuck try placing the cam near the twinbase to test the connection. As a temporary measure only move your PC or use an old satellite receiver.

Am I right in thinking that the cam should be inserted in the receiver and the receiver turned on, does it matter which channel the stb is on or not?

Most receivers must be turned on to communicate with the cam.

Any channel is ok, though might be simpler with an fta channel.

mrminibus - I noticed you tried solving this problem on another forum. You have progressed further but still can't get the twinbase connected with the cam. Some more thoughts from me.

You state in the other thread that you can see Base IP DFB9 in the cam's menu, BUT you don't say if this is the correct IP for your base. I suspect that DFB9 is NOT your base IP (check left hand panel when you open Twinbase Manager).

This suggests to me that the problem is something is blocking the signal path between the base and the cam. The only way to eliminate this as a potential problem is to do as I suggested above and place the two next to each other.

When I open twinbase it states
Base ip
DFB9
I have a laptop and I have moved it to 6 inches from the stb and it still says "not connected" I have also replaced the usb lead but still no joy.
I don't really know what else to try, any ideas?

Well, looks like I was on the wrong track. This is now getting very strange.

Just to eliminate this: you have added the correct cam IP using the Twinbase Manager first tab. If already done you could try Removing the IP and Adding it again.

I suspect now you have already done all of this which leaves only the possibility of a fault with the wireless function of either the cam or the twinbase.

It's done...
Genisiss....

I deleted twinbase from my machine and installed twinbase 1.4 then I married the cam and it connected then I installed twinbase 2.0 and married the cam and loaded stealth 2.00 and it also connected and for the 1st time in 11 months of ownership I actually loaded todays keys wirelessly ...
I am about to buy a new programmer for my brother who has just bought his 1st system, I was going to get a cas3 but God This is Fantastic !
I can't believe I have never known that this can be done before, I though the wirelss function was for putting a card in the twinbase and sharing it with 2 stb's only.

Thanx BB for your help on this matter...
The above mentioned forum is very good but I always seem to get quality from this one...

Well done.

As often with these complex problems you have solved the problem yourself just by trying everything you could think of.

It never occured to me that the twinbase version might be an issue - you had already successfully married the cam and updated it using your twinbase.

You had good support from the other forum too, all that was required was a bit of further encouragement to try out more ideas.
