Hi Everyone,

I could really use some help...

My dad's Italian and loves to receive all channels that neck of the woods, he's been through a couple of boxes and dishes, and we now have a Technomate TMS-1500 CI, and a 60cm Technomate motorized dish with a powerful LNB.

He bought a Dragon CAM off a friend a few years back, and he's been using that ever since, returning to his mate frequently for it to get upgraded. However, they've drifted apart and he is now looking at me, the IT guy in the family to continue this!

Last week I bought a Cas 3+ programmer, and was playing around with it last night. I have managed to update the firmware to 3.70, and have checked it is coming up right in the receiver menu, however no more channels have been unscrambled. I'm using Rai4 at the momement to check, with the dish pointing to 13.0E, Hotbird 6.

If anyone could shed any light on what the problem is, or guide me a bit more. I'm a newbie when it comes to the Dragon CAM but know quite a bit about the receiver.

Dragon CAM Rev. 2.06, now loaded with Predator 3.70

Thanks in advance for any help, really appreciate it - don't want to mess anything up.

What EXACTLY is the setup with the Dragon - is he using a card with it? And which channels is he trying to watch??

Most of the scrambled Italian channels are secure scrambled these days and can only be opened with the official kit.

Thanks for your reply -

The Dragon CAM goes straight into the CI slot of the receiver, with no smart card in it - we've never had one.

Apart from RAI1, RAI2, RAI3 which are free-to-view, he used to watch RAI4 and a few others around there. What do you mean by official kit?

I understand that most the channels that can be unscrambled at on Astra, so I've moved it to 19.2E Astra 1 and run a channel scan but pretty much everything is scrambled. I'd be happy to just unscramble some channels here just to check it's working OK, whatever we can get extra is a bonus but it just doesn't seem to be working like it used to.

Appreciate your help.

Almost everything is secure scrambled these days, and as far as Im aware nothing can be opened on Astra 1 at the moment.

Official kit - well if you have relatives in Italy get them to buy you a Tivusat receiver which will give you all the main terrestrial channels. More info here

Ahhh, ok - so forgive me for asking this, but what exactly can be unscrambled now with a Dragon CAM? What are people using them for these days? It's been over a year since it was upgraded by our friend, I must have missed what's been happening.

Mainly the Digi TV package, on 1 West, but there are a few other channels available.

Ok thanks - I've moved the dish to 1 West, scanned, and have picked up a load of channels from Digi TV, checking the listings from lyngsat.com, but nearly everything is scrambled.

Does that mean I've done something wrong with the CAM? Thanks again guys.

Not much nowadays :D

Theres been at least 2 new super cams since the Dragon, and theres not much support around for the Dragon these days.

You need to imput the updated keys, to add them manually go into the Cams menu, using your receivers options, and the following sub menus:
Predator xxx
Debug
OhlAladin
Digi TV
Key 00
the last key change was 7/09/2009.
To locate the keys, or an amended predator file, use a search engine and type in predator370 without any spaces, and you should quickly locate the keys.
