CBM have reacted angrily to an announcement by Crown Castle, which partners the BBC and BSkyB in the Freeview service, saying it is considering splitting Channel 22 - which it had originally allocated entirely to CBM - between several providers. Crown Castle argues that the success of Freeview has increased the value of the channel, which it describes as probably the last free-to-view 24-hour DTT channel.

CBM said it was "disappointed but not surprised by Crown Castle's announcement [...] in relation to Channel 22" and said it was "considering its options" - which might include taking legal proceedings for breach of contract, and making a formal complaint to the Independent Television Commission (ITC) on competition grounds.
