Good point: ITV 2,3,4 are on 2A in Videoguard.

But ITV1 is still 2D only, either Granada FTA, or Central West in Videoguard

yep as we all know ITV are a bit #####**** - first moving an encrypted ITV 1 HD region to the valuable FTA 2D space on the BBC HD txp .forcing 4HD to start on EB1 ... encrypted ITV1 still there but for a bout a week back on its former freq. as well - no idea why how long this will last and where this all will end ...

It'll probably all sort itself out in late summer - Astra 1N will bring plenty of extra UK spotbeam capacity.

CH4 HD is on Eurobird 1 Fixed.

The ITV1 HD Meridian transmission on 2B South has ceased or is no-longer decrypting as far as I know.

C4HD is as an INTERIM SOLUTION forced to be on EB1 due to a lack of FTA HD space on 2D
(who would use that valuable FTA space for encrypted channels and is part owner of FTA platform freesat? No one ....)

The important word with ITV1 HD MS is it ->HAD<- ceased but reappeared on 11973 about the 7-10th this month

I don't know what you are getting at here. ITV 1 HD is encrypted on 10847 and 10936, both of which are on 2D.
 
I think his point is that the whole point of using 2D is that access to that satellite is restricted by its limited coverage, so any company using it for transmitting channels which could be FTA but instead are encrypted are wasting the valuable space on 2D as they could put their encrypted channels on 2A,B or Eurobird. I think it was a sarcastic dig at ITV.

I also believe CH4HD on Eurobird is at least a mid term rather than short term solution (less than one year being short term).

Yes it did, but now it is no longer being received even with Sky card. The frequency is showing "Test Service" on it's Now&Next. Hence my comment.
 
It was briefly transmitting as 7480 on 2B South. That is what he is referring to, but his information is several days out of date.

... on the other hand with ITV you never know what new nonsense they are up to tomorrow ...

so yes atm C4 HD is NOT on 2D but EB1 for the time beeing assumed to be on 1N by august the latest so don't count on it beeing available outside the uk footprint for ever

and ITV1 HD is only on 2D - even encrypted

hope we got it right now as it is atm :-)
 
ITV1 HD transmissions from 2D are clear not encrypted.
 
some regions on 2D including the one on the BBC HD txp and the STV HD txp are still encrypted ... (10847 1x/10936 2x)

Requires an FTV card (Freesat from Sky), and an MPEG4 capable receiver.
