Changes to Sky UK packages

I was chatting to a friend of mine today who is has a high up job in for Finlay communications.

Finlay communications are the main sky uk installers in Ireland, Both North and South with over 100 vans on the road every day.

He was at a meeting this morning and was told that the £10.00 per month price for HD package will be done away with.. before Christmas this year,

The charge for an extra cards in your home will also be halfed by January 2011 from £10.00 per month to £5.00 per month.

Great news for all Sky UK HD customers..

I will post more when i have the information..
 
They'll make the £10 back through putting up normal subscriptions by £10, just watch. Already started with the Sports package.
 
No.. it also seems that they will have to lower the price of all packages due to the monoplies commisions order..

Seems its about an average of a 12% reduction on all packages..
 
i think its because of cs and lost revenue due to being greedy. love to see them collapse

Ah but this will be offset by the forthcoming changes coming to the HD channels so you only get the channels for the packs you subscribe to - no more pay a tenner and get all the HD channels at once
 
That is great news as it previously looked as if only those with all the packs would would not have to pay the £10..
 
Once they finally do away with the £10 HD sub I'll probably get a Sky HD box so I can view the extra channels I'm missing but I'm not prepared to pay extra as I only get 2 basic mixes at the moment and watch the free HD stuff via my Technomate box.
 
Reports coming in that the Sky subscription on any package is to be increased by £1 as from September.
 
yeah I was told in a letter my 6mix would increase by a pound but I thought sky sports was going up 2 pound to 20 a month. so that would make it 3 pound increase for those with the sport channels ?

Makes sense as my partents have Sky Sports and theirs is going up by £3. I haven't had a notice yet but I only have a couple of mixes so I guess it's going up by £1.
 
I know it's not Xmas yet, but any confirmations yet ? I'd like to have the HD channels (for the packages I'm subscribed to) without having to pay the extra 10£.
I allready have a HD receiver (no, not from Sky) so that would be a nice Xmas present if it were true.
