I have a 2.4 ch master dish which i used to pick up ch 4. I then had a supplier put on a double lnb and then lost ch 4 and ss1 irish sky.Is this the problem as i needed a twin cos running eng/irish sky at same time. What is best set up for this?

Sounds like perhaps the twin LNB is not the same quality as the old single, or perhaps the skew needs adjusting, I presume that your LNB is a C120 mount and the installer used a C120 Twin LNB?

Clearly the best set-up is one where you can see all the channels you want to receive:D Joking.

If you haven't a clue what a C120 mount (LN:cool: is - simply take a picture and post it to this thread. Others should be able to tell, at a glance, if there is anything awry. Else, call back the installer - he/she should have the right kit to setup your LNB perfectly and first time.

There isn't a reason I can think of for having to suffer just because you upgraded your system.

All the best.

must be the skew adjustment , what lnb is it ?

To be honest all i know was everything was working fine using a single lnb. irish sky was fine and we actually got e4 which supplier said at time this is unusual, eng sky we got basically everything. But obviously having to switch systems all time was crap. So obviously over here everyone supposedly knows systems ha ha . Got a friend of a friend in a nd got told just get a twin lnb and everything would e fine. So got a 0.03 standard whatever and got told this is the best. But obviously isnt. All i know is here you contact people and they say oooh you need a bigger dish, but if you received these channels before logic says not. What do i need to do or check to come back on this. It is basically for the racing on a saturday cos cant pick up at races either.

We know what you had. We know what you now don't have.

The install is at fault.

It would be nice of you, in future, to thank those members on this site (as you progress though the thread) as they ARE trying to help you. A picture of your LNB is simply the easiest thing to post for us to help.

Give us no info - and we will turn off helping you. Pls read responses to your posts and react.

Else, post to the Daily Mail Sat problem page and see if they are interested.;)

So what you are hinting at, is that your installer removed one of theseView attachment 18829

and replaced it with one of these?
View attachment 7423

If this is the case, then he has done you no favours and has probably knocked 10% at least off of the performance of your dish, as these dishes require the matched feedhorn to perfom to their full capabilities.

do you still have the old lnb /feedhorn as you'd be better if it is a c120 lnb to buy a c120 quad or twin lnb as that would be better matched to your dish.

Because you have an Irish card you take your E4 from the strong 11565 V Eurobird transponder, your installer may not have known that as he probably has experience mainly of instaling UK cards which take their E4 from Astra 2D. Thats why he found it unusual.
You are missing C4 and Sky Sports 1 Ireland, both channels transmitting from the North beam of Astra 2A. Your problem, almost certainly, is your LNB 'skew'
Irish Sky One comes from 12226 h,also on the North beam. Can you see this??? Can you see Sky Sports News????? British Eurosport?????
regards
D.
Just noticed you can't get at the races......strange, it's on the same beam as E4! If you pick up one you should pick up the other.

would I be right in assuming that if the install was optimised for 2D reception - everything else should fall into place, correct? Or is that kind of thinking not appropriate for fringe areas?

Nice tip wod! (hadn't thought of that). Get a new backend (LN:cool: for your feedhorn - but instead of a twin - go for a quad. Future proofing, as it were. Certainly a good idea if you were ever contemplating a SKY+ upgrade;)

Yes and buy the Invacom Quad, as the fringe boys highly recommend it. :)

The sad thing about all of this, is that you could have very easily bought the replacement LNB yourself and without any dish adjustments whatsoever, bolted it onto the feedhorn in place of the old one.

The Channel Matser 1.2 when used with its matched feedhorn, is one of the finest dishes around, to put an LNBF on one is sacrilege.
